BPS tip
Guys, if you have a BPS anywhere near and are planning on getting a particular item check the website first. If it is on sale on the website print it out and take it with you. The website had a Falcon Cara 7' MH rod I wanted for deep cranks for $99. At the San antonio BPS they didn't want to honor the price until I showed them the printout. Bottom line I got a $140 Cara rod for $99. Would not have happened without my having printed it out.

Good point reb, just to add to that, I went to get one of their BPS Extreme Rods which in the magazine was on sale for 65. At the store they had it marked at 100. I showed them the magazine and they said they always honor the online and magazine sales.

Good tip. By the way I got the 2008 bass catalog. Seems like there isn't too much new in it.

You have to be careful sometimes with BPS. Their prices may vary from the catalog to the store and sometimes differ from store to store.

My areas Bass pro shop sucks.I just got back.I bought a spool of 30# Tuf line XP braid, 2 packs of BPS 3.5" Tiny beavers and a pack of Wordens size 2 spin n glo , to rig up for trolling. My total came to a whopping $22.64. Nope,no signs of the bait monkey here, it must be too cold. I did have a pocket full of money, there just wasn't anything at the store worth buying.I should have went to Gander Mountain instead. Oh well, maybe tomorrows a GM trip , if I don't go fishing. Sometimes if you order over the phone they still don't honor their flyer prices unless you give them the issue and page #. Try and get them to sell you the RC's at $9.99 like advertised. And if you are really lucky it doesn't go like this.
Me - "Fall catalog, page 43, RC 1.5, #BS100115, on sale from Nov. 11th through March 1st." Them - "Hold on a second sir, I have to get my supervisor, I still can't find it on my computer at that price....." Twenty minutes later Me - "Fall catalog, page 43, RC 1.5, #BS100115, on sale from Nov. 11th through March 1st." Them - "Hold on a second sir, I have to get my supervisor, I still can't find it on my computer at that price....." |

When I go to BPS, I make a list of things I want to get with the prices. That way, when I get there, I'll know whether it's more expensive at the store than online.

I live in Kentucky and don't have a BPS so I must always travel at least 2 hours to get to one. One thing that has sorta changed my tune about BPS is tax. If you wait and order online and wait untill they offer a free shipping or some type of shipping discount you can save quite a bit. I placed a 750 dollar order right after Christmas. (gift cards) and paid 10.95 for shipping as opposed to the 60 some bucks I would have spent in tax at the Nashville store. Just food for though.
