Fuel coming out of carbs
Hey guys I have a 90 hp merc 2 stroke is it normal to have a small amount of fuel coming out of the lower carb when I tilt up the engine. Because the floats are in a different position it seems to bleed out and then stop after a min.

Mine (90hp merc) does that too if I raise it way up...so I don't - instead of using the lever lock for transport (which isn't recommended anyway), I use a couple of 2x6's screwed together (a couple of 2x4's or a 4x4 would work as well) and painted black as the 'stop' and just trim down to trap the wood (but keep it elevated). Keeps it plenty high enough for travel w/o the dripping.

I'm betting out on the water he won't tip the engine upside down and if he does, fire won't be the problem!

On my GT 150 had the same problem. Come to find out, it was the small hose (tiny hose) going from 1 to another (3 carbs). It broke right where it slides on to the fitting. Very hard to find, it looked like it was attached untill I touched it.
No more gas leak. Good luck....... Randy |
