Default Hot weather fishing

I don't have my own boat or alot of time to fish so I go when I can, not at the best times. What you you all recommend I do in the hot weather. I've tried fishing bottom lures (worms and minnows) and buzzbaits in deeper waters but they never seem to bite. I even tried running my jitterbug in open waters as a shot in the dark. I get some nibbles but I think they're just bluegill. Also I can see bass jumping at bugs on the surface all around the pond but I can't seem to get them to bite at anything I have. Believe it or not even in 90 degree heat I"m getting more bites in shallow waters around cover than in deeper, cooler water.

Sounds like you are on the right track-The heat of the day can be a tough time to fish. If possible try to go early or late.

This weekend I was fishing at about 6:30 pm, and I was retrieving my deep diving lure fairly quickly. I casted, and was reeling quickly and my dad said slow down your retrieve. the minute I slowed it down I hooked into a nice 16 inch smallmouth bass.

moral of the story is to retrieve slowly this time of year.

SE Texas here. Water feels like 80-85 degrees sometimes. Ill fish a senko so slow I could almost fall asleep. Work the edge of the pond mosses if you can. When Im bank fishing Ill throw out along the edge of the weedline and work it back slow.

Around six last night I was walking around the lake, and came across a flooded placve that had weeds, and trees everywhere, and I threw in a scum frog, after a couple of casts, I threw one near a tree, and a decnt sized one exploded on it,I was shocked, because I had never experienced a topwater bite, so I just stood ther and missed it. Others might not suggest it, but try shallow, shady, areas that other people miss.
