Is Cranky old enough to be a reel connoisseur?

And why has he decided that he needs a spinning at the expense of not owning a baitcaster? Real fishermen and connoisseurs either use baitcasters or fly rods. Spending that much on a spinning is two times a waste of money, first because the spinning reel is inferior in many regards to baitcaster, and second because Van Staals and Stellas are horribly overpriced, even if they are margninally better than other spinning reels.
