Dedicated Crankbait Rod and Reel

I have decided its time I get a dedicated crankbait rod and reel.
I was thinking about getting a St.croix premier crankbait rod with a MH power for the price does anyone know how it is or have experiance with it?
What else is there out there in that price range.
For the reel I was thinking about getting a Shimano curado E with a 5.0:1 gear ratio for all around cranking.The only issue with it is I like to use left handed baitcasters when I can so I dont have to switch hands and this reel is not availaible in lefty.Does anyone have any good reel suggestions under 200$ that is good for all around cranking and in lefty or righty if need be

I'd say go with a Revo Winch.

My first choice would've been a Daiwa Zillion CC, but that's over your budget.

I've fished a Revo Winch (only for a while) and liked it pretty well.

I own the St. Croix rod and have been very pleased with it. It is the only cranking specific rod that I have owned, so I can not really compare it to any others. I have it paired up with an old bantum reel.

I have used the BPS pro qualifier in right handed and found it to be a great reel for the price. I was using a higher gear ratio, but can not imagine a drop off in quality with a lower ratio.

Thanks guys I think I will go with the St.Croix crankbait rod.
No way I can afford a Daiwa Zillion CC right now lol but I can defiantly afford the Revo winch.

Try the Shimano Crucial Crankbait rod. It is 7' and MH action. I have a M and the MH and love them. The Curado is a great reel and so is the Revo Winch. I would go to a sporting goods store and check both of them out.

If it were me I would check ebay for a chronarch BSV, they have been going for less than 200 new. I bought a 101b for 145. Just my opinion and I am very partial to Shimano's.
The St. Croix rod was my first choice for a crankbait rod but I ended up with a Kistler because of price. I have been very pleased with my Kistler-KCBS7 (80.00). Good luck and I would get what your are most comfortable with.

I purchased a St Croix Premier crankbait rod earlier this year and love it. You'll be more than happy with it.

Check out a Pro Qualifer reel at BPS with a 5.2:1 gear ratio. That's what I use and it works pretty darned good.

I'm sure you'll love the Premier. I own a Mojo that I'm very happy with. The PQ reel is fantastic, love mine. It would be a good 200.00 reel. I shouldn't advertise that, so people don't get any ideas. I'll just say I like it as well as my Revo and Curado. I've been very happy with St. Croix.

I think the e5 is a great choice, Im also partial to the old lews BB1N.

You can't go wrong with the Revo Winch. I own one of these and can say that the casting and retrieve are super smooth. I can even cast the lighter 1/4 oz cranks while using my 7ft m/m rod. Perfect for shallow and medium diving cranks.
