Weekly Lake Fork Fishing Report
Well, the weather has been something this summer. The rain and cooler temps have been out of the normal. I only hope this don’t spell trouble in August with a really big heat wave. The fishing has been good but had to dodge some thunderstorms. The top water bite is a little slow. Spinner baits, weightless Wave Tiki Sticks, Lake Fork Tackle ZigZag, and small crank baits are all good starters for the mornings. Texas rigs are another good starter. When the sun gets up move out deep. The fish are suspended and you will have to count down your baits to get them to the proper depth. Storm wild eyes, white jigs, spinner baits, lipless crank baits, drop shots, and big crank baits are all good baits for the suspended fish. The key is getting the bait at the proper depth where the fish are holding.
The crappie are still plentiful but the size are starting to change some. Jigs and small minnows are the best baits. I hope all will have a SAFE AND HAPPY JULY 4th Jim Reaneau |
