Leader knots

Say i wanna put a 17 pound test Fluorocarbon leader on 30 pound power pro. Is the uni to uni a good knot for this or not so much due to the different diameters?

i think you are ok with this. i don't tie on a leader.ever. so i may not be giving oyu good advise.

You've got a big difference in diameter going from 30lb braid to 17lb fluoro. I've never used the double uni for a difference this big, but it normally is my knot of choice.

It should still work. But make sure you make about 7-8 wraps with the braid, and about 4-5 with the fluoro.

The Albright special knot comes to mind also:

If tied correctly and you leave the end of the leader a little long, you can add a little plastic bait glue as well.

Harvey has a good knot there...

And BB is right on the uni-uni. It should work if you wrap em right...

I am a blood knot user... and it works ok with different line diameters...

I use the double uni for coupling braid to flouro, but have used similar diameter for the most part (20B / 8F, 65B / 17F, etc.). Any particular reason you're using such a large diameter flouro leader with the 30 braid?

Like most said, the double uni will work fine. I use it on all my saltwater stuff, connecting 30lb power pro to 50 lb flouro. No problems. A lot of guys are using the "alberto knot". It's a takeoff of the albright. I'm still learning it, but I hear it's real good.

The double uni will work, but I prefer the Albright or Alberto knot. IMO they pass through the guides more smoothly.

I have not had any break0offs yet using the uni-to-uni knot. I have also started using the new invisible swivels from aquateko and have great results.
