Question about troll motors
Besides my depth finder going bad my trolling motor broke also. The rod under the pedal snapped and I don't know if I can get a replacement part. It is a Johnson Sea Horse. I would like to get a newer model and was wondering if there are any that have a long cable to the foot control? The one I have now sits on the front seat of my 14 ft. v boat. It will not reach the floor and I have to steer with my hand which is a pain in the butt. I don't care what brand I just need one with a long cable unless I pull out the forward seat. it also doesn't need any bells or whistles.

Most of the Minn Kotas come with a 18' cable.
Motor Guide and Minn Kota also have some with wireless foot pedals.

Thanks Joe. Eighteen feet is really long. That might just do.

If I was to buy a new trolling motor today, I'd get one that has the remote "wireless" foot control. You can be in the back of the boat and still be in control. There've been a few times when someone in the back complained that I was hitting all the good spots and that's why he wasn't catching anything. (I was intentionally NOT hitting the best spots I'd see ... and then inwardly groan when he didn't make the cast to those spots)
Anyway, when you let such a person up front, they suck at maneuvering the boat! With the remote, you could let them try the front, and still be controlling the boat from the rear. |
