Terminal Tackle Storage

If y'all store your terminal tackle in a 3600 type box you know when twisting and turning the box the smaller items fall out of their compartment into neighboring ones-I use a Falcon Terninal Tackle box-designed for this-and it still happens. However, there is a solution!

I heard this tip on some show I was watching: Take some packing foam or craft foam like you find at a craft store and cut it to fit inside the lid. Use some spray adhesive on it then glue it to the inside of the lid. Let it dry and now the terminal tackle stays where it is supposed to. I tried it and it works real well. I have 2 of the Falcon boxes I joined together back-to-back. Blue foam is for terninal tackle and green is for jig heads. At a glance I know which side I need to open.

I too have the Terminal Tackle Storage from Falcon and my lid seems to be flush with the compartments. I've never had anything sliding around...

Reb, how thick of foam are you using? 1/16 to an 1/8?

MI, 1/16". It is craft foam I got at Michael's. Cost $.79 a sheet.

Buzz, most items are not a problem. The plastic disks I use as trailer hook keepers and small finishing nails I use for wacky worm weights will go all over the place. So will split rings.

Rebbasser, you've also created a bonus with your addition of foam. Let's say you have a couple jigs you don't want smashed down, perhaps a swim jig with a silicone collar.....
Hook the jig in the lid foam and when you shut the lid, it will hang in the compartment from above without damage....you can see the lines outlining the compartment from the foam being compressed.

Make sure those Falcon boxes will fit in your boat compartment slots. Falcon boxes run bigger than 36 or 3700's, so be careful. Will you be stacking them in the storage, or doe it has slots where the trays slide in? Also, make sure you'll have a bag to stick those tackle trays in in case you're not fishing from your boat.

The boat has one open storage compartment. Right now the life jackets are in there. There is still room for tackle, but I'd like to find a better place for the lifejackets. I am planning on getting a V6 bag to take select boxes with us when shore fishing.

Reb, I tried your trick on a couple of the boxes I use when making tackle, and it works great. I did not glue it in, I just set it over the compartments and close it. Works the same though.
