Default What is your % usage of lures/tactics so far this season?

I think this would be interesting to note in a "nerdy, only an engineer would find cool" topic to share. I got it from another forum I belong to.

I have not used too many lure types so far yet this season but in my defense, I have also not gone out as much to get to using other lures and tactics yet. Here is mine so far:

35% Cranks
20% Inline Spinners
35% Drop Shot/Soft Plastics
5% Jigs
5% Jerk Baits

One interesting note is that of the items listed above, only the inline spinner and drop shot have caught fish to date. The crankbaits have come close with trailing fish, but I just couldn't crack the puzzle for the right speed, size, color, and cadence.

Lastly, this is for all species targetted to date, not just bass. Feel free to include species other than bass.

So far just bass

25% plastics including horny toads
25% cranks
10% spinnerbaits and buzzbaits
30% swimbaits
10% everything else

As far as what has worked. Plastics the most and a few on everything else.

30% Jig
20% Soft Plastics
10% Spinner Baits

5% Live Bait

Heavy on Crankbait because in teh spring that is how you catch em at Kentucky Lake... Slow Rolling Crankbaits... and the Jig is a high percentage because I am still trying to learn how to fish em...

60% chatterbait
25% trap, swimbait, or crankbait
22% plastics
3% topwater

I know I've caught over 60 bass on chatterbait so far this year. Haven't really counted the others except for the few bass I've caught on topwater. Plastics include swimbaits, floating worms, senkos, and craw types.

Lipless cranks:70%
Buzzbait:15%
Reg Cranks:10%
Plastics:5%
jigs:0%

Wow jigs 0 percent. That is unusual for me that's for sure. The lipless crank gets the most use though at the beginning of the year. It is my go to cold/muddy water bait. Ask this question in about 3 months though and I am sure this will all change!!

I think it is a good thread, but do not have numbers to back mine up. I also think that it is really two questions in one. (% used, and % of bass caught on a particular technique). While the most productive bait probably should be the one thrown the most, lately I have been working on technique more than just catching fish.
I will say that I have put a lot more time and effort into spinnerbaits and crankbaits this year, so my usage is way up, but my numbers caught have been more on plastics.

For actual useage....

Soft Plastics.....40%
Jigs......20%
Cranks...20%
Spinnerbaits......10%
Topwater....5%
Jerkbaits.....5%

For catching plastics would be higher while jigs and cranks (which I'm trying to improve my techniques with) would be lower. As the season progresses these will probably change a bit though

For LMB & SMB,
35% smoke grub
20% spinnerbait
20% creature bait
15% drop shot
5% wacky worm
5% soft jerkbait

But I've probably spent more time on stripers this spring, and in that time, it's:
75% soft jerkbait (7" to 12" models)
15% soft jerkbait or swimbait on a jighead
5% hard jerkbait
5% topwater

50% swimbaits
30% spinnerbaits
10% jerkbaits
10% various other methods
normally jerkbaits and chatterbaits would have had the lead, but this year things changed in a big way. A couple weeks from now my list will change drastically.

As I haven't fished yet this season I'll go with what I used in the past.

30%-Inline Spinners
25%-Spinnerbait/Buzz Bait
20%-Fuzzy Grub/Maribou jig with nightcrawlers
25%-Shiners or some other minnow.
