Default 'Quipment Check!

Hey Guys, small game for us. Post all the rods you have, and for what purpose you use them. I'll start:

*Spinning*
1)St.Croix Wild River 7'6'' ML/Fast -- Finesse Rod/Drop-Shot/Light T-Rigs
2)Falcon Low Rider Bass Spin 6'7'' M/Fast -- Spinnerbaits/Buzzbaits

*Casting*
1)St.Croix Premier Crankbait 7' MH/Slow(?) -- Crankbaits
2)St.Croix Avid 7' MH/Fast -- PNJ/Carolina Rigs/Heavy T-Rigs

Soon hoping to add the St.Croix Slop-N-Frog/Chronarch MG for my Frog Stick. Might throw a little flippin' and pitchin in with this rod too...

Nothin' to be ashamed of Senko! We all started out with one rod; I can remember takin' the 'ole Croix (7'6'') everywhere. Salmon, trout, bass, bluegill, perch, crappie. Heck, I didn't know a darn thing about power, action, etc...

Until I came here -- and got bit by the bug!

Suffice it to say if there is an application I probably have a dedicated rod for it including 2 jig rods and 5 crankbait rods. Been dealing with the baitmonkey for 40 years.

i carry 2 all star rods (mid 90s all star rods, back when they were good)6-6, 5 bionic blades MH6-6, one fenwick, and one abu garcia...on them i have a castaic an citica baitcaster, all the rest are
Quantum baitcasters from 1995, all of them still work great.
I usually have the shimanos for flipping and pitching, one has a tube or jig on it, the other has texas rigged or just a hook for senkos.
I always have 2 crankbaits rigged, one spook or rogue rod, one spinnerbait rod always rigged, and of course one grub rod.
The fenwick is a 30 year old rod, Med. but its great for popR and light jigs...on that I have a quantum spinnning outift.
Usually carry 5-7 rods in the boat, 3 if I am just in the jon boat.

Red face Rods and reels and purpose

Surely you jest!

I have about 16 or 17 rod and reels in the boat most of the time. Yup most of them have a specific purpose, and most of the time I have about 5 setups on the deck with me.

My basic hardware is a hodge-podge of brands (I am not particularly brand loyal, nor do I spend a lot of money on most of my rods and reels)

Spinning tackle
1 ea Castaway 6' medium, with Shimano Sedona 2000. This one is for "skipping" and "Slider" fishing and super light cranks. (spooled with 20# Power Pro Braid)
2 ea Shimano Crucial Drop-Shot 7'2" medium with Shimano Symmetre 2500 Rear drag, 1 is spooled with 20# Power Pro Braid and the other with 20# Tuff Line Braid (yeah! I like both). These get used for "drop shot", "shakey head jigs", "small finesse jigs (PnJ), "clam shot-wacky" and "Mojo rigs"
1 ea G-Loomis (can't remember model number) 6' 6" Medium Heavy with Pinnacle 10 bearing tour pro reel, 30# Power Pro, I use it for Jigs, T-rig, and weightless soft plastics (Senko style, Super Fluke etc).
1 ea Shimano Sempre rod 6'6" with a Pflueger 6 BB baitcaster (can't remmber the model name), with 15# Mossy Oak line, I use this for spinner baits or buzz baits mostly.
1 ea Pinnacle 7' composite cranking (graphite/fiberglass) ML with a Lew's Speed Spool Model BB1NG, spooled with 12# Seaguar Carbon Pro flourocarbon for Crank baiting
1 ea Allstar 7' ML crankbait rod with Lew's Speed Spool Model BB1NHS (High speed) that I use primarily for lipless crank baits
1 ea Browning 7' medium rod with Shimano Curado spooled with 10# Trilene XT for medium/shallow diving crankbaits
1 ea Browning 7' medium action with Abu Garcia C4 spooled with 30# braid for T-rig, and jigs primarily.
1 ea Crosstimbers Custom rod 7'6" Medium matched with a Abu Garcia Hank Parker special (basically same as a C4) spooled with 30# braid. Used exclusively for C-rigging.
1 ea Allstar 6' medium with a Quantum reel (can't remember model name) spooled with 15# Mossy Oak, I use this for most of my topwater baits.
I have a couple of other 6' 6"rods matched with Abu Garcia CA reels for spoon jigging and other backup needs, and a couple of 7' Heavy action Allstars with Abu Garcia 5500c3 and spooled with 50# Power pro for heavy brush JnP and tough stuff C-rigging.
That's way too much!

Not a Skeeter, it's 1997 Astro 2000 Single Console, 20' 4" long 10" rite Hite Jackplate, 200 Mariner Mag EFI, 74 LB Minn-Kota Handheld with Pro-control stick, X97 and X87 LCGs. Astro turned all the BassBoat stuff over to Procraft in 1998. This about the last one of these they made. I bought in 1999 and haven't any trouble out of the hull and only had to replace the gears in the lower unit of the motor last year. "Takes a lickin and keeps on tickin!"
The boat has aged remarkably well with lots of tender loving care, most people cannot believe the age of the boat.

I, too, am hoping to add my Slop-N-Frog/Chronarch MG Frog Stik before Summer. Need at least $300 down on it before I can buy though. (According to Mom anyhow).

Yeah, I'm looking at a new finesse combo, most likely Shimano Compre/Shimano Symetre. Also a new Casting Combo, Abu garcia Revo SX with BPS Extreme XPS rod.

The casting combo went up from last year and is not $220 while the other in about $170-ish. I used to be able to afford htem both, but I just bought a Cabela's Fish Eagle II Musky rod and an Abu Ambassadeur C4, and osme PP braid.

Your finesse set-up sounds prem-o, BB. I can't wait to get my Finesse rod out and drop a line this Spring!

St.Croix Premeir Series 6ft 6in M- Quantum Energy PTXM
St.Croix Premier Series 6ft 6in MH- Abu Garcia Revo SC
BPS Crankin Stick 6ft 6in M-Quantum Accurist PT
St.Croix Premeir Series 6ft 6in MH Spin- Quantum Incyte 30 Spin Reel
Berkely Cherrywood Spin Rod 7ft M Spin- Cabelas Tournament ZX 2500 Spin*
Fenwick HMX Spin 6ft MH- Quantum Affinty 20 Spin Reel**

*will be upgrading to St.Croix Premier Series 6ft 6in M Spin
** will be upgrading to St. Croix Premier Series 6ft 6in ML Spin

These are my 5 main setups. I have a bunch of rods without reels, and depending on how/what I will be fishing I will switch out as needed. I have them in 6ft 6in for ease of use in my rod locker, and I dont really like 7ft'ers. Im constantly banging a 7fter off my console on the tracker.

Nice selection, Kicker! I soon hope to add a flippin/pitchin' rod also. Possibly a Falcon Cara Amistad, Falcon Pro Grass, or a St.Croix Avid 7'0'' MH; Fast Action.
