Never owned one, but I've heard they're good, strong reels.

Never casted a Trion but have 3 or 4 of the Echelon models and have been very happy with them. Much better reel than the price IMO.
I would walk out to the boat rod locker and tell you how many I have for sure but the temp is below zero right now. |

They are a solid and fine reel, and I have one myself. I have heard of of folks having very bad experiences with them, but mine have not been.
I will tell you that like other baitcast reels, it does not excel for weights at 1/4 oz or below without some extra fine tuning. It casts as well as a Curado B (the older one) but it can't hold a candle to shimanos in terms of its range of "tolerance". For example, If I am tossing a 1/2 lure and switch to a 3/16oz with my curado, I won't really have to make any adjustsments to my reel. I would have to with my Trion. So in this example the my curado was able to "tolerate" the change in weight without an adjuestment but I would definitely have had to adjust my Trion. It's not a major thing at all, just something to point out. It is a solid reel and it has been responsible for all of my Chum Salmon. These brutes are guaranteed to give you a fight unlike any other. The last one I fight I battled for 22 minutes (yes, I timed the fight)and my Curado D got spooled and my Trion has never lost to a chum. Here is one salmon my Trion handled with ease.

Yep, you're right, Zooker. I guess the Shimanos made me lazy, but once properly set, the Trion is a solid performer.
