Bama ranked #4
Yep. On the list of football factories. USC, Miami, and Michigan ranked higher.

Thats a bizarre list. How do Michigan and Miami get ranked higher? Maybe OU, maybe ND....but Miami had no history prior to 1980 and Michigan is almost exclusively dependent upon their history in the distant past.
Miami is no more a football factory than UF, and Michigan is no more a football factory than Ohio State, Penn State or Notre Dame. Or is this list based exclusively on draft prospects? That might be the only way it makes sense to me.

OU and ND were right there too. 5 and 6. They looked at history with NFL HOF, All Pro players, and college National Titles, Conference Titles, All Americans, etc.
Of course it's subjective......What list isn't??? But it does stir the pot a little . |

OK, so this is weighted more on players than team accomplishments...makes more sense.

Alabama has HOF Starr (1 SB win) and HOF Namath (2 SB wins) but they have Stabler who has one SB win for a total of four wins.......last time I checked the Snake wasn't in and Briese has a better chance of getting. Soooooo......you forget about Purdue???? Last edited by 3dkicker; 04-26-11 at 04:20 PM. |

Not to argue about Purdue producing better QBs one way or another, but Stabler not being in the hall has more to do with his eccentricities than any other thing.

His stats have a lot to do with it. Threw way too many picks and only had two above average seasons. Compared to those of his time he was good but versus today's game and players he won't get in.

I don't agree about Stabler. He was a good quarterback, and he certainly fit in well with the Scumb...er, the Raiders' mindset. But I don't think he was HoF material. He threw a LOT of interceptions. Definitely a great character of the old NFL though. The "affletes" are better now, but sports these days suck compared to then.

my point is made smitty. perdue DOES has a history of great qb's. but most folks see bama as a defensive school.
and YES the snake SHOULD have already been in the HOF. joe willy had the same "qualities" as the snake, jsut that his were kept a little more hushed up i think. he was a leader bryce, soem ting oyu jsut really don't see much these days in pro football. now, in my opion only here....the BEST qb of all time was from the old batimore colts. yessir...johnny unites. the BEST feild general THERE EVER WAS. AND I HATE THE COLTS. BACK THEN THE QB CALLED THE PLAYS MOST OF THE TIME. DON'T EVER HARDLY SEE THAT THESE DAYS. now mr stats guy smitty. anotehr question for oyu if oyu please. i am really wanting to know for myself on this one. which school has the most HOF defensive players? i don't think bama does for real. jsut wondering though. also, how many HOF players in the pros won a heisman trophy? not many i don't think on this one either.
