Don't release it into the wild when it gets too big for you to handle or care for. Florida is having a major problem with pythons.
Most exotic pets stores have loads of info on snakes. |

pythons are cool pets because they are lazy all they really do is lay in one place .
It is a good starter snake , a couple years back i had three red tail boas that were great to own as well . the snake will pretty much grow as much as you feed it but the ball python tops of at 6 to 7 feet long . when i got rid of my boas the largest was 11 and a half feet long and was eating large rats twice a week or one rabbit per week . Even though they are not an active pet you need to stay on top of cleaning the tank and make sur you keep the temps in the tank right , stay away from heating rocks and use the pads that stick to the underside of the tank . also for cleaning purposes rather that wood chips or sand go to home depot and get a couple square feet of the fake grass , not astro turf but the kinda used on model train tables cut it to fit the tank and when it needs to be cleaned through it in with the laundry, pick up enough of it to have spares. stick with live mice when feeding the snake they sell frozen ones but trust me they are more trouble then they are worth . and don't get a smaller snake they are harder to keep alive start with one that is about a medium size . If i remember anything else i'll let ya know . get a deep water bowl , enough for the snake to fully submerse itself .

Jim, inactivity may be a sign of illness in ball pythons. Any snake you buy shouldbe active in its tank, if it is not, don't buy it. My snake is curled up and sleeping right now, but last night he was moving all over the tank, especially after I put him back in cause he likes being out of his cage.
I do think I am having humidity problems in my tank because my snake does not shed in mostly one piece like it should. I am getting a hygrometer the next time I go to the pet store to get him a mouse. I gave you these mariner, but here they are for anyone else who may be interested (cause I know everyone on here are snake lovers! ) http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...&ct=image&cd=1 http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...ke.html?cat=53 http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...ke.html?cat=53 http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...um.html?cat=53 I'm sure one of these mentions it, but NEVER use Pine or Cedar as substrate, both can be harmful and even deadly to snakes. Also stay away from sand, gravel, and things that could hurt the snake if ingested. I use this. It also comes in precut for 10gal, 20gal Long/29gal, 30gal, 55gal. http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=2752169 BB

Ball pythons can live up to 50 years and get up to around 4ft, but some have gotten to 6ft!! I hope mine is a male and doesn't get that big.
