I'm still into mainly rap although I have expanded my collection to include a few non hip-hop tacks. Only because there are a few catchy songs.

Another cool thread-
Bands The Pogues, Rush, Marley, Tosh, Zepplin, Metallica, The Dead, Van Morrison, Stevie Nicks (gorgeous! back in the day), smashin Pumpkins and, believe it or not- Cindy Lauper. She's got an incredible voice and is a lot more talented than her bubblegum rock garbage. Songs Anything from the above. Plus "It's a Wonderful World", especially when pulling into a calm cove in late spring at daybreak. |

I like Records as apposed to CD'S , or what have you. They sound better in my opinion.I have somewhere near 4500 records, 1200 cd's.I guess you can say , I like music alot ?
I just sold 14 guitars, and 4 amps. That really made me feel like I have lost a close member of the family. Its odd to see my half stack gone. P N J

hey cranebird, you are right albums or "vinyl" does sound better. the bass is more in lp's. even i can hear it with one deaf ear. i don't have an lp player anymore. but got 2 boxes of records, 33's and 45's. i might sell them on ebay. did ya'll hear about the guy who sold his collection for 3 million dollars? he had 3 million lp's and sold them on ebay for 1 buck each. i got some real good ones too. got a old beatles double album with interviews. don't ask the name. it is in storage right now.

The Wall is classic.
A few new bands to check out: Someone mentioned Modest Mouse, they are very good. Listen to The Arcade Fire. Great, great band and completly different from anything. The Shins are very good. I mentioned the White Stripes. If you like Dylan or Cash or country rock or blues or anything like that, give them a spin. Artic Monkeys are very easy garage rock, not earth shattering but fun. Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a fantastic band. Karen O sounds like the singer from the Pretenders, but the music - the guitar riffs are great. A lot of people missed Neutral Milk Hotel. They are now gone I think, but late 90s they released an album called Aeroplane over the Sea which was terrific. The Decemberists keep writing songs about whales and pirates and stuff, but for sounding like 19th century whale pub holdovers they still manage to bring something that most bands today lack. Very good at their craft.

Zooker, I am surprised you like Rancid ? Tim Armstrong came from Operation Ivy although I like Rancid better. If you like heavy have you listed to Killswitch engage ? I have a Murder dolls cd, one of the slip knot characters formed the band to do a side project album but in my opinon it sucked. Hatebreed and soulfly, pennywise, Spike 1000 are some of my favorite heavy music to listen to.I absolutely drove the wife crazy with Insane clown posse until she threw the cd's in the garbage on me.

Youd have to ask Denny about that. Golden Earring radar loves song on thier Something heavy going down album has an ungodly long drum solo, The outlaws green grass and high tides song on thier bring it back alive album is 20 minutes long, or one whole side of a double album set. I think Arlo Guthries Alices restaurant might be the longest song ever ?It seems it anyway.
