This is the nature of modern society. Here we are, grown men, and we shop like women for fishing tackle - compulsivly. When asked why we buy so much stuff our answer is always "the monkey made me do it". It might as well be "the Man made me do it" or "society made me do it - blame yourself for my irresponsile spending habits".

Why dont we take responsibility here guys? Its just a little bitty monkey, yes it has an axe but you can get a gun, right?

Now if you dont mind, I'm off to Woods N Water. Gotta get some watermelon candy french fries.

Obviously you are harassed by the same monkey zooker is, The Lesser agressive strain of "Shopacus Baitmonkeyous".
Here He is in his natural habitat.

There is another breed of "shopacus baitmonkeyous" the further you live from civilization, the less free time you have, or if your on a budjet you are more likely to encounter this more agressive breed. Whom will stop at nothing to fill your boxes and boat by whatever means necissary.

Here is the more agressive breed of bait monkey poised for attack in his natural habitat.

Obviously both species are dangerous, but one must pay special attention to the more agressive breed, be ever vigilant.

Or is it if you feed the bait monkey after midnight that he transformes to this more agressive species? hmmmmmm I cant remeber.

*thanks to members for the awesome bait monkey pics.

WTL,

I find it interesting that you mention the "woman shopping" comparison. I always tell my wife that men buying fishing stuff is the equivalent of woman buying shoes. We need different colors and styles of lures just like they need different colors and styles of shoes.

I have stalked the monkey myself for many years, trying to capture the perfect image... To my surprise and chagrin, I've never seen the two previously posted monkeys... here are a couple I've captured on film...

Beware boys, there are more of them than we think, they are organizing, and clearly if you don't heed there call they aren't afraid to get violent!!

My biggest problem is that I MARRIED the bait monkey. Since I started her fishing about 5 years ago, she has gone from spinning reels to baitcasters. Now we are fishing (and running) a couple's tournament, she thinks she needs some of everything! I try to go to Academy or BPS without her because it costs me about 25% of what it would if she was with me. Her first trip to BPS in Dallas four years ago we left with a boat! That woman is expensive!

Thats the classic, "be careful what you wish for".

My wife despises fishing, wich doesnt bother me we dont have much room in the boat anyway.

Hard to hold a pole with 2 cell phones, and a can of off in your hand.

He got me pretty bad last week, new rod, reel, a bunch of special Don Iovino handpours (that we don't make), some jigs, etc., etc., and another rod that I honestly don't need and don't have any idea what to do with. Maybe sell it I guess.

Sit, breath in, breath out, breath in, breath out, feeling better ?

Now that we are already calm let´s look things in perspective and from another angle:

1.- No longer you´ll be hearing that annoying voice behind you asking with THE TONE, what you need those for ? , you already have tons of those !!!!!!!! ( yeah, righ, how about her having tons of garbage like shoes )

2.- No longer you will see THE FACE ( you know which face, the FU face ) when you say that you´re going fishing

3.- No longer you will get THE FACE AND THE LOOK when you promised to get home at 9 pm and you got there cuz your boat trailer had the bright idea to break a spring ot tear to pieces a wheel bearing and excatly where you parked there ain´t no friggin cell phone signal and it´s Sunday and you get home at 5 AM the next day after spending all night fixing the danged boat trailer.

We can go on and and on about what you won´t get now that she is into it, hell, give the lady what she wants, man, she WANTS TACKLE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD !!! what could be better than that ?

The only problem I can see in your situation is ( and this is a creepy thought ) she wanting to borrow YOUR tackle Nitro.

Evil little Critter isn't he. Got me looking at a new tackle bag and a couple rods. None of which I can afford, so... Either time to get a job, or pawn some old fishing stuff! hehehe

I don't understand why women get upset when us MEN buy $100 worht of high quality lures, when they go out and buy $1000 worth of shoes that they already have, shirts they will never wear, and jewlery that gets lost! At least I know my MERCHANDISE is worth something and will be sed frequently.

Am I Right? Or Am I Right?

lol
