Default Bass fishing in Cuba

http://www.fieldandstream.com/photos...s-fishing-cuba

This is a very interesting article. It almost as if all their gear is hand me downs from the pre-revolutionary Batista years and yet they sound like they are getting by.

Interesting read. There was a whole chapter on Cuba in Sowbelly. I know I'd fish there in a heartbeat.

I'd love to go there. My dad went to Cuba fishing back in 78 and he said it was unbelievable. They had fish straighten out all 6 points on top waters with 2 trebles.

Very interesting report; one thing that stood out was the fact that the bass spawn as early as January. Amazing

All weather driven Woody. We had some early spawning fish the begining of March. I know Florida has seen them late January as well.

thats great....I mean it involves 2 things that make it great....1) They are not doing it for the money, but for the competition and the joy of fishing and 2) The are engaging in fishing for the reason that makes fishing great. If anyone watched the bass documentary the other month it talked about that the reason men get so into fishing is because it brings out the old rugged primitive side. Fishing for survival of you and your family.

The writer did say that protein was relatively hard to come by in Cuba.

Reading the article, it reminded me so much of the old stories my dad told me about Camp Mack and lake kissimmee in the 50s and 60s. Guides row out, big topwaters...

And gang, they are lifting the travel embargo soon. Can anyone say 2010 get together in Cooba?

Now there's a sure-fire remedy for next years cabin-fever. I'd better start working on the Wife now.
