Default The Best Weekend

A few of you know that futurepro and i met on this forum. We both fish the same lake so we have fished a few tourneys together. this weekend started the biggest series on the lake. the tournament was on sunday. we met on sat. morning and went to prefish. we had a ok day couldnt get anything going really. the water temp was about 52 and murky. we were both throwing a crankbait. i hooked up with a big fish really close to the bank. derrick netted him it was at least a 4 lb. smallie. a little light went off in my head, i figured that the samllies were up crusing looking for a bed. so we went into the tournament with that plan. the next morning we were at the launch and there were 110 boats. no one even payed attention to us (we are both 20). so we launch my rod breaks, it starts pouring, and nothing is going right. we go to another place and derrick hooks up with a big smallie. we fish there some more and went somewhere else. i hooked up with another big smallie. we went a few more places then we went to where we caught his first one. he hooked up with another big one and then i did a few casts later so we had 4 fish and i figured they were a little over 12lbs. we get back to the weigh in with our 4 bigt smallies and then everyone who gave us the cold shoulder in the morning now wants to talk to us. we missed lunker smallmouth by an ounce and we ended up with 12 lbs 8 oz. we finished in 9th place for $225. it was awesome we caught some big fish, earned respect, and got money.

Small world, The guy that owns Jims one of my dads best friends, they grew up together in Huntingdon, i think that him and his dad run it. I have only fished the lake once though, and I have always wanted to go stripper fishing on it, but have not had the chance.

Congrats, and fine job on getting a pattern put together to put the fish in the livewell. That is without a doubt the key to any tourney, or lots and lots of luck.
