Anyway, I'm lovin this reel, smooooth! Once you adjust the line control and Braking I can cast right into the teeth of the wind with no professional over-runs.lol. Anyone else using this reel? Hookset |

I have two of the Johhny Morris reels and love them. The only issue that I had was with the way that they made the magnetic brakes. They clip into the dial. I have had them pop loose twice. It is a simple repair when they do. (Just put it back in place until it clicks) Other than that, they are very smooth and cast a mile. I think the dual brakes is a great thing.

Pflueger does make then. I own the Johnny Morris Signature reel (the silver one). It definately is better in some aspects than other reels, but definately worse in other.
For one, I really like the Dual Brake System. They reels are very smooth. The finish doesn chip like the paint on a lot of reels. The finger pad thingys are the most ergonomic of any reel I've fished. They just fit your fingers great. On the other side, The reels are (or the Signature series anyways) is almost 9.5 oz! And they do have a bit bigger profile that other reels in their class. BB

I bought a Johnny Morris reel for $45 cause it was a factory second - the finish was off. It has been a very good deal for me.

WTL, does your source have more used reels or even rods? I might purchase another Elite if I can get a deal. I have a BPS Extreme rod matched up with Elite reel. The rod is six years old and it looks like
Thanks Hookset |

BB, my Elite is like 8.6 oz, which feels light to me compared to the Rick Clunn reel it replaced.

Cass, I'll keep my eye out for that. How did you know the magnet was loose?

hookset3,
My source was bridgemaster in lake wales florida. I am providing a link to their website, but I see no place on it where they sell online. You might ought to call them and see what they have, I dont know if they will do business over the phone or not. Let me know. I will caution though, there were 2 Johnny Morris reels there. One was much smoother than the other. So be sure if you talk to them on the phone to get something in good working order. I think its better in person so that you can just sit there and go through each reel until you find what you like. http://www.thebridgemaster.com/

The reel started casting shorter and I could hear the spool brushing against something when it was turning. It was a very easy fix, but still a pain to deal with on a 3 month old reel. I will say that it has not done it in months so it may have been an isolated issue.

The new Johnny moris signature reels weigh 9.4 oz. The elites weigh like 8.5 or something almost a one ounce difference. But paired with a light enough rod, you can't even tell. Now my signature on my BPS pro qualifier rod seems like a very heavy combo because that rod, and most BPS rods IMO, are horribly balanced.
