Looking for Reviews
Camo-floro
http://www.tackledirect.com/hi-seas-...camo-line.html Everyone knows fluorocarbon isn't 100% transparent. The concept, to my understanding, with this line is just that. It doesn't appear like a line. The colors make a break in sequence, hence making what can be seen visually harder to see due to the pattern break in line. Makes sense. Very spendy! These folks have a patent but if there is real logic to it, wouldn't others be working on having something similar? I'm happy with the line I use and not really looking to change, but.......... Next Now this one I have no intention of getting but was amazed at the 'customer reviews', 5-star accross the board. Now granted only three people reviewed, but still. Bass Minder Chart http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Minder-S...21525/-1747279 I'm just thinking......if I get a Kayak, rigged up witha Color-selector, a bass chart, a couple of rods hitched up with Alabama Rigs, put a fish locater on with down and side imaging a small raft to pull along a couple of batteries (with solar powered on board charger of course). Sit back...open a 'pop'....turn on the Hydro-Wave, my day should be complete, don't you think? So, Anyone have experience with either product? I really have more interest in the line but am all ears on the chart.

The old school of thought was that you never used a colored FC line. It defeats one of the big benefits touted by FC line, transparency, the other was that the materials that were used to color the line could reduce it's strength by up to 20%.

I've heard that too Tav, but I aint too sure how true it is. I think line manufacturers would have found something else to color their FC lines at wouldn't weaken it. Could be wrong though... I'd love to see some strength tests with lines like Trilene fluoro which comes in green and clear.

I just think that colored flourocarbon line defeats part of the purpose of the line, like Tony said. One of the biggest benefits to flourocarbon line is that it disappears under water. I can't figure out why anyone would want colored flourocarbon because it will be invisible under water when it's clear, but if you color it then it would be visible when fishing in clear water. Or at least that is how I see it.

Remember now, this isn't one color.
Click the link, they briefly explain the concept, better than me anyway. Patent pending 4 color special dye. Breaks the line pattern.

Good concept I think Joe! It fallows the same principal as a hunters camo. I don't think you tring this line should be a question of whether the coloring is a good idea or not, but whether or not it's good line!

The reason why flourocarbon becomes nearly invisible in water is not due to it's transparency (there's been plenty of transparent lines available for years), but because it doesn't reflect light waves. Adding color to the line I think would negate that property, because the color you see is the the color of the lightwave being reflected, needless to say, any colored line is going to be reflecting lightwaves.

basstech, true
MYTH: Fluorocarbon is completely invisible and matches the refractive index (the way light bends) of water. FACT: No. It is as close as any form of line or leader can get to the refractive index of water, thus making it virtually invisible, but not completely. Some brands do state that, but it is not true Again, I'm not disagreeing with anyone but...I can easily see a hunter in camo in Walmarts parking lot too. Not so good in the woods. The concept is not just refractive indexs but breaking the pattern ALSO. Making the visibility harder to distinguish the refraction that gets through or refracts.
