Chatterbait, or spinnerbait?
Which do you prefer to use around hyrilla + clear water (10'-15' visibility is my guess) I know that a lot of vibration is not not good for fishing clear water, and a lot of vibration is what a chattbait has. But I also know that people really like them for fishing, in and around hyrilla. Spinnerbaits are good for every where, and are not much a specialty bait IMO. Also you can choose how much vibration you have.
Do some chatter blades have more than the other? Click here to see the pond. Thanks, ~SJ

btw that par of the pond in the pic is only a small bit of the it, it thins out to only a few patches ever 10-20 yards or so. Also the mats are not as big, they range from a 6' diameter to a 1/2' diameter. But their are "gardens" if you will of my hyrilla on the bottom. They pond is 1' to 15'-17' at the most, averaging 5'-9' With 10' to 13' drop offs not uncommon.

BUZZ IT MAN. then frog it, spinner it. pop-r it, spook it. get the idea? then try the lizard without a weight. texas rig, no weight.

no weight cause it to look more naturel i think falling. more alive as well in shallow water, less hangups too. my favorites are zoom...punking seed with a chartruse tail, faded a little (let it fade for a day in the sun, bothsides), the other color i like is june bug. you should be able to cast it with your bait caster, i do.

i use a 4, mostly. 5 is good too. either way is ok. just don't jerk it all over the place. make it look like it is eating as it goes so to speak. lizards are notorious for eating bass eggs. that is why bass can't stand em in their beds. crawdads too.

I would go with the spinnerbait w/double willow blades and reel it pretty fast to try to get a reaction strike.

Between spinnerbiat and chatterbait, I'd go spinner. Having vibration isn't bad, but its important you have flash in clear water (willow blades), and it if hard to have a lot of both. Anyways, I'd stay away from the chatterbait for one reason, the weeds. It will hang in the weeds a lot more, and it may effect the action of the blades. The spinnerbait would be one of my first choises for sub-water fishing here. for topwater, definately a frog. Spro bronzeye for hollow body, and Rage Tail Toad or Zoom Horny toad for other frogs.

i like a spinnerbait but after looking at the pond go get a frog and throw it.... drag it over the grass and the holes between the grass... the fish will blow up in the grass or in the open water..... on the lizard thing go with pumpkin seed with a chartreuse tail... you can buy the dip it chartreuse stuff and redip the tails yourself b/c the tails bleed out the color and the dip it gives a sent and a stronger look

Take an 3/4 oz weight and peg it to your bait and pitch it around the holes or dead in the middle of the matt. The big ones will jerk the rod out of your hand so be ready.

How do you think a stander size brush hog will work for pitching inside weed mats?

I went to wally world and got the Zoom lizards, watermelon seed, 6". They had no weights over 1/2oz. I did however get two $1.00 wallmart spinnerbaits.
