Spelling bee champ

Congrats to my 13 year old nephew, Adam, who won the Central Minnesota Regional Spelling Bee this morning. The full story is here for anyone interested. The state spelling bee is next Tuesday.

Here he is last summer with a Smallie at our cabin lake.

And especially for giving it his best when not feeling well. Hope he recovers quickly. I am sure that trophy helped his feelings a LOT!

Adam went out in round 10 of today's state spelling bee, finishing in 7th place out of 21 contestants.

The words he spelled correctly were: caboose, quiche, flotilla, pochismo, rapport, calypso, innocuous, nachtmusik, hyperbole.

He went out on "wedel," a German word pronounced like he spelled it, "veidel."

Sorry to hear that Adam didn't win but how great is it that he made it as far as he did. Like Bama, I would have been out much earlier than Adam! Give him a hearty congratulations on his hard work and making it as far in the competition as he did. I know you are all proud of him.
