Default Ranger boat

Hey guys I just recently picked up a 1986 Ranger 371 with a 150 Evinrude on it and it is in mint condition, and is loaded with a minkota 70 lb thrust new last year and all new pumps, new carpet, 2 lowrance 332, trolling motor batteries, new 3 bank charger, and to top it all off 2 new tanks of gas for next season. So my question is what are all your thoughts about rangers and are they worth all the hype. My uncle has owned them his whole life and swears by them but as you each know to each your own.

In my opion only now. I think you got a fantastic rig. I had an 82 way back in 85, these are some really great boats. As long as oyu mantain it, it should give oyu a lot of wonderful fishing trips. Only thing i ain't fond of on your rig is the maker of the motor. But as zooker said, it is a chevy/ford thing. I always thought that in THAT year range, the mercuries were better motors. Mine had a 150 black max. Man......would that thing fly. Post up some pictures pal. Love to see it.

Hey twi, if you don't mind my asking, what did you pay for it? I'll be in the market for a boat in a year or so.
I've seen some good deals on Rangers at ebay, at least I thought they were hahah

Sounds like a fantastic deal. Check out Bass Boat Central. It helped me a lot when I bought my first bass boat.

The 360 and 370 series Rangers in the years you have are actually some fine boats. Not the fastest out there but VERY DEPENDABLE and VERY GOOD quality boats. Those boats like you have where built when they still where onwed by ole Forest and they built em like they where there own. Now that genmar has them........well thats a different story.

I had an 84 Ranger 370 merc 150 and it was a great fishing platform. It won't win any races but it's not bad if you don't load your living room in it. Wasn't all that bad to get to all the bilges and pumps either. I did add heaver gauge trolling motor wire to it too. Todays motors may need it even more.
