which one? Theres three different baitcasters, I dunno how many different spinning reels.
I have an Accurist PT(the 130 dollar one, not the 79 dollar one), two tour editions and an Energy and they are great reels. Quantums are the only thing I use right now...so I really trust their quality. |

I have used a KVD before, feels just like the ACX500, the non pt version of the accurist. Get the PT for the extra 20 or so.

I like my Energy PT. I just bought an Accurist PT too. Caught a 5 lber on it already. Love it. My dad just bought a Abu Garcia reel ($150 one) and it's suppose to be the bomb (for the money). It has 11 bb's. Nice reel.

Too danged heavy! Compare weights with other makes and you'll find several baitcasters at weights UNDER 9 ounces. (That's what pizzes me off re the new 200D Shimanos, they gained WEIGHT!)
The lighter your gear (weightwise, not actionwise,) the greater the sensitivity, fatigue is less, and casting accuracy is better toward the end of a long day. While I don't expect anyone to drop 449.95 +TTL for a Daiwa STEEZ (5.5 ounces) I can't understand why anyone would not choose a quality reel that suffers from unnecessary obesity. FR |

I've got these in my arsenal:
Baitcasters 2 - AC500PT's 2 - Energy PT650's 1 - Energy PT770 1 - PTXM 860 Spinning 1 - Energy PTi-20 1 - Kinetic PTi-20 I love the Quantum PT series, as you can tell. Quantum stands behind their products. But I have to agree w/ flyrod, they could be a bit lighter.

good grief fly farter is whinning about a mere 2 oz.. hoss ya might want to work out a tad more -him being dainty and all- i have fished 175 days last year. inculding an 8 hour tourny with a broken lil finger an a 2 day 10 hour-each- tourny with torn ligaments in my wrist..i used quatum pt's, mag gears, irons and a team diawa advantage reel. none of them are that light.. casting accuracy is found in the mind NOT in the fatiqued wrist/arms of the caster.i find the more i fish the less fatique i feel.. bet he put that light lil sh!tmano and a 7'6'' flippin stick.. quatum pt's are a good reel for the money. i have several energy pt's and 2 tour edition pt-7.1- the energy pti spinning reels i have 2 both 30's and are worth every penny.. zooker

With the PT Energy series you've got to "feel" the adjust knob before seeing it move. There very sensitive and if you see it move, then you may have over corrected the reel.

The PT reels of a year ago (2005)are great reels, they do chip some on the outside but the interiors are smooth.
(Note: thats not the KVD series). These reels where $160.00 at BPS, but you "may" be able to find one at a much cheaper price. Tackle dealers where selling these reels at $105.00. The older reels have appeared to have gone up, due to the demand. I recently found some at a tackle show that were back up to $150.00.

Flyrod, change to 16oz beers instead of 12's and you will be right for Quantum in no time.

I got married 11 years ago, so MY CASTING ARM is the biggest, baddest, strongest one of all!!!
As far as the Accurist, i use them to pitch, I have an Energy that I use to crank with, hard to find them in 4.4:1 anymore, but I do enjoy a nice light setup. |

I just thought i would throw this out there. Some of you guys were talking about price. I have seen tons of these reals like the 770's going on ebay for $100-$120 bucks some still in box. If your looking for a decent deal seems like a pretty good deal? Haha and no i am not selling one on there, but I am considering picking one up before spring.
