Do you trim your tailfeathers?
I was curious if any of you guys cut the feathers/flashing off of baits like the x-rap. I used to have a pop-r that I seemed to get a lot of short strikes on. I thought maybe it was because of that last treble hook that hangs down below the surface with feathers tied to it, so I trimmed them down. Maybe not such a big deal on the x-raps but I wondered if anyone else trimmed theirs.
*edit: Just noticed the mis-spelled title, too late now... |

I keep mine on. I personally think that this gives the bait added appeal. I like red feathers.

I like watching women shake their tailfeathers. But then again that is a totally different subject.

I Think Your Setting The Hook Too Soon. Wait For A Second After The Hit. It Takes Patients But Pays Off In The End ,don't Get Too Anxious You Might Lose A Big One That Way!

No, its not a hook setting issue. More of a finicky bass situation if anything because I know how to fish topwater and set the hook correctly. The fish don't actually even take the bait all the way underwater; they mostly just boil on it. Usually there is stained water around here so that may contribute. Most of the fish I have noticed doing it are smaller fish.
