New "Jig"
Was looking through the new stuff at tacklewarehouse and came across this:
http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Power...page-PTLP.html What is your take on it? I think it may be a good idea. I especially like the blue streak and green pumpkin colors. |

I was looking at these also and thought they might go over fairly well, but I think I'll wait to see how others do with it before buying one. They are interresting for sure.

Bcklash recieved one in the Secret Santa gift exchange. I have read a few articles about this bait and it seems like it's gaining popularity. I am looking foward to hearing what bcklash has to say about it once he gets a few chances to use it.

Hahaha, thats a good idea. Just when you think theyve thought of everything.
Wonder if baitfish ever settle to the bottom to flop though...if so, you would be imitating a manerism of baitfish that has heretofor not been imitated.

I have seen many fish in an aquarium do this when their time came. It looks very interesting to me.

I still quite a few of these still in their original packaging. And you are right about rock walls. I have cleaned up pretty good on rock walls at Barren with these things in the clear/silver color. Also work as advertised around docks. the key to these things was to be real particular about how it enters the water, that makes sure it swims in the direction you want it to go.

I think that the 1/4 oz would be good into busters. Something that could flutter just below the bait balls. I just wish they had a more natural shad color.

Love the idea, but I wish they actually had a color that looked a little more like a Bluegill or Sunfish. I'm guessing they'll work however.

I thought the same thing.
I read an article last month in either Bassmaster or B.A.S.S. Times (can't remember which magazine it was in) about a guy who won a tournament using this bait when flipping and pitching. It was somewhat of an eye opener for me.

I'll be ordering one or two this spring when I place an order with TW.
I think these are going to be awesome. Wish they had 3/8oz though. BB

I was awake at 4 am this morning with a headache, thinking about a pattern from early summer throwing a big spinnerbait into bullrushes on lake kissimmee, and realized that this lure would have been awesome to try in the same areas. I wanted to throw a swimbait in there, but didnt with the big trebles...

I agree that the color selection is concerning but I think that a Spike-it pen set might help it out some. The other thing that I noticed is that the line tie seems flat or straight. If it were at an angle, it might help it to work over and around things better. This lure may never hang up, but it looks it it might be an issue also.

That's another good point. It might be interesting to see what changes they give this bait over the next few years. I would imagine if it sells descent then there would be new colors coming out but also a few modifications like the angle of the line tie may be on the way as well.

I fish the large Berkley Beast and it has a similar action. These baits appear to be "similar" but "different". I will will try this one and see if it does all that it says it will. If it works could be a killer in certain situations.

Read an article on them a while back. Interesting concept. Don't know if I would buy one, but if you think it will work go for it!

I've seen Iaconelli on one of his shows (City Limits) rig a rage shad on it's side, and fish it in a similiar fashion as you would this bait. Rage shad may not fall in exactly the same manner - but it's much cheaper and offers other rigging options making iit a more versitile bait. You could also mimic this bait with a sweet beaver, the double wide would be a good imitator of a dying bait fish, if you did not split the front appendages and trimmed them back about a third of their length.
