i am left handed and cast with my left, but can pitch and flip with my right hand and cand do a 2 hand power cast with my right. i is benficial because say you have carpal tunnel or you slip and fall down the stairs before a big tourny and sprain you wrist.you dont have to stop fishing, just switch hands.

The most coordinated movements I can do with my left are: holding the rod, twitching the bait and scratching my rear end, can´t ask an oak tree to bear apples.

If you don't mind taking the time to learn how to cast with both hands, then I would say definitely go for it. Because that could mean you could pick up other reels that are opposite retrieved of what you normally fish. For instance, if you fish right hand retrieve reels, you could pick up a left hand retrieve crankbait reel that won't wear down your left arm so much when chunking those huge cranks.
