Default i have to ask

what is you most used bait ie spinner , crank , rigged worm or whatever else you use and why . you don't have to include colors because they are conditional , myself it is a toss between the texas rigged worm or the top water frog with spinners coming in a close third .

I tend to go off on a tangeant lure wise. Something will start producing and it will be all I throw for the next few weeks. In the past its been spinnerbaits with painted blades, flukes, ac shiner jerkbaits, recently bagley cranks, jigs, split shot rigged flukes, floating worms and flipping - there are more I guess but those are some of the major ones. Right now I am in a transitory phase, haha. Come on guntersville! Can't get here soon enough.

Confidence bait is a blade, with a T-rigged worm a close second.

Jig-n-pig (vowed to learn how to fish it better this year, and so far its paying off), and a zara spook. I swear I can call a bass from 20ft away with my spook

Doc, you can. This is how I understand topwater. A lot of times spinnerbaits and jigs are similating healthy fish or crayfish. Those can get away from a bass, so a bass instinctivly might be calculating a lower percentage of success when it sees something like that.

Topwater is by its very nature simulating something in its deaththrows. Fish know that all they have to do is haul their lazy tails 20 feet on over and that baitfish is still gonna be there, so they tend to chase things a little more - most of the time.

i've tended to start topwaters then switch to jointed minnows then spinners but i just can never go without the good ol t-rigged worm it was probally the first lure my dad taught me to use and has just kinda kept a place near my heart ever since , although i have been have a lot of luck with the booyah and strike king spinners as of late .

Definately Crankbaits, but topwaters are my favorite to fish.

It's pretty much an even split between spinnerbaits and crankbaits for me. The jigs and plastics follow behind those.

For some reason, I seem to despise topwater. Blade would be my favorite, with a shallow crank right behind it.

Shakey Head, Drop Shot and C-rig all hold a fairly equal status late spring through late fall. During the June and July and even August on lakes like Guntersville you will see me throwing one of the two spoons on the left:

Especially as the fish move back out on the humps and ridges.

up til last year, topwater was what i fished 90% of the time. last year i began fishing t-rigged senkos, and got pretty good at it. now its usually the first thing i rig up, but still always have topwater hooked up.

nice to have a pic acompany the description , and buzz ohhhhh buzz dude stop given people a reason to hate on you be patient with the top water and the results will come for all the knowledge you say to have you no it is probally just your technique that is flawed , good things happen if you wait for them and that def goes for top water .

for example , a guy i work with is originaly from kentucky and pretty much always aimed for catfish ya know set a bottom line and wait for the results . i had the argument about topwater
lures with him last summer and until i showed him the way i fished with one to get results he was convinced that they were worthless well long story short , today he almost always starts the day day with a topwater frog or a popper and that is the difference between knowing and not knowing how to use a bait .

Hey Bob, do you think you could show me a thing or two about throwing those spoons at the goose pond? I have never done anything on a jigging spoon.

Booyah Boo jig w/ a chunk trailer. It's so versitile. I usually bounce it, but if the mood strikes I can swim it, drag it, just let it sit...any action I need, the jig can pretty much get it done.

A Shakey Head will and do catch fish on a regular basis. Granted alot of your fish will be small but normally you can catch a good size fish (especially if your among them). Don't bother using braid, flouro, or co-polimer. Just use Stren clear blue mono. No need to worry about strength, abrasion resistance, or visibilty .
