Default Lake Fork Fishing Report 5-9-04

Since our last report Lake Fork has received a bunch of well needed rain and at the time of this report the lake is completely full. Over the past couple of weeks the Bass fishing has been great and there have been lots of 7-10 lb Bass caught in both shallow and deep water. The gates at the dam were open for a few days and it did cause the fishing to slow down some. On Friday the Bass and Crappie fishing started to pick back up and conditions should be back to normal by the middle of this next week. We should be just about finished with the spawn by the end of May and the deep water fishing is getting better each day.

Lake Fork is full and the water temp is in the middle 70'. The water is still clear around the main lake while a lot of the creeks and the North end of the lake is muddy due to all of the heavy rain. It will not take long for the lake to settle back down and look for the Bass fishing to continue to be good from May-July.

Most of the Bass we have been catching so far have been in 4-10 feet of water and now our deep water bite is starting to kick in. This past week we boated several Bass up to 9.14 in 18-25 feet of water over brush that we set out over the Summer. The Bass are moving back out and are feeding good in the middle of the day. This can be a great time to catch a Trophy Bass and some good numbers of fish as well. We should be able to stay on this pattern of several months and with the exception of days where the wind causes problems, we should be able to catch some good Bass.

Good numbers of Crappie are starting to show up along the main lake points and the Catfish are spawning along the banks. We are offering Crappie trips starting this month and we will be starting our Catfish trips in June. If you would like to catch a lot of fish just for fun or to be able to take a bunch of fish home to eat, the month of June is the time to get started. Book early because the Catfish trips will book up fast.

Anyone wanting to go Bass fishing with us at Lake Comedero, Mexico on Jan 24th or Feb 21st, 2005 call soon as we only have a few spots open for these trips. We will have other dates available and the Bass fishing at El Salto is hot right now. We are receiving reports of good numbers of Bass being caught from our camp each day. Fishing should remain good at Salto until the end of June.

Look us up at lakeforkproguides.com and until next time, Good Luck and Great Fishing !!!!
