Favorite Line?
What is your favirote line and #-test for each general application, and why? I searched already and came up with limited results.
Flipping/Jigging? Crankbaits? Frogs? Soft Plastics? I am just starting to get serious and have been stuck on good ol' 12# trilene and 30# test fireline for a while now. Thanks in advance.

Nate - I am not qualified to answer this, but i have used both the lines you are using and like them just fine.
It is easy to get caught up in what is the best line debate, we have guys on this forum who will give great opinions that are well researched and thought out! However, you will get a solid ten different opinions! My humble opinion is if you have a line you are satisfied with stick with it, if you are looking for a line with certain qualities, least memory, most durable, least visible, then these are the guys to ask! Good Luck!

I´ve been fishing for a little bit over 3 decades, have tried lots of lines and I settled on Trilene Big Game, 10 ( clear )-12 ( moss green ) pound test are the ones I use the most.

XPS Fluorocarbon and P-Line Fluoroclear. In some situations I will use Berkley Big Game. Line sizes depend on where I'm at and the color of the water. Suffix braid for frogs.

Best Line
Here is the ONLY true answer to the question.
The best line is the one YOU like for the type fishing, water, depth and conditions YOU fish. Like techniques and lures, it's what you have confidence in. IMHO |

"Also every once in a while I do research before askin a question that has been asked 1000 times"
Deacon, well said . . . Speaking of research, in reviewing prior posts, I recall reading some threads that mentioned that Power Pro 50lb. had some issues. I believe the consensus was that the 50 lb may have had some manufacturing issues and most deferred to the 65 lb. Anyway, I have some questions: Is my recollection correct (perhaps the veterans may recall discussing the 50 lb. Power Pro issue)/ Is the stuff that is currently on the shelf ok? Am I "going overkill" by using the 65 lb Power Pro for flipping and pitching? |
