Plenty good.
In fact, the rod is probably one of the most under-rated rods out there. It's actually pretty light and sensitive.

I use one also, its a great setup for learning to use a baitcaster. At Dick's you can usually get them with a $20 off mail in rebate, so if I remember correctly it only costed me $50. I have the 6'6'' M and it work fine for various applications.

I had no problems with the rod except that the two I owned broke. For their price range and availability, I think they are fine.

I've got a Lighting rod that I like pretty well, but I'm not crazy about the ABU 5500C that i've got on it now......Don't get me wrong its a good reel, I just don't care for the round body style. So recently I've been eyeballin the Silver Max at Walmart as a possible replacement, so I'm happy to hear they are decent reels.

I needed a replacement rod one time quick. I stopped at wall mart and bought a Lightning rod. Not a shabby rod for the price.
