size hooks for 7-8 inch worms
i have been using ribbin tail zooms and some powebait, i have been using 3/0 offshank gama worms and wide gap 3/0, it seems i am missing the fish, should i move up to a 4/0, it seems my worms go weak or wanna get mangled right after were the hook goes in while using the 3/0

Yikes! I use a 2/0 offset shank for 8" yum ribon tails. I don't seem to miss many fish. Bass often go for the "meatiest" part of the worm wish most often the head/hook. Just let the take the worm a little longer... takes a while to get the timing right but it's well worth it. I think the smaller hook lets the have a "freer" action, and slid through vegetation better.

I use a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG or offset worm hook depending upon the thickness of the worm. I like my hook gap to be twice the size of the worm used.

I also like the bigger hook on an 8" worm. A 2-0 is way smaller than I ever use on an 8" worm....I have found a higher percentage of hookups using the Gammy 'G' lock or Skip Gap hooks especially with smaller bass, but where I have the worm hooked doesn't change. I'd try a smaller worm in the same spots and see if that changes anything, and you could use a smaller hook if you like, I've caught a lot of dinks on a 4-0....if you are wanting to get those rascals hooked up a smaller hook just may do it....that's part of the fun, try a 1-0 or whatever and see....i'd just let em take it for a little longer myself, and then set it up!

i use gama 3/0 ewg offset hooks, if ur missing fish try putting the hook a little lower in the worm, sometimes i do this if the bite is slow and it seems the only thing ill catch is a dink. better to catch a small fish than no fish.

For slinder bodied worms I also use a 2/0 hook....I prefer Tru-Turn brand....For fat bodied worms like Senko's I'll jump up to a 3/0 -4/0 EWG hook.

I normally use a 3/0 on a thin bodied 7" worm and a 4/0 on a thicker body.

I use 2/0 on thin bodied and maybe a 3/0 on a wider body . I have used 4/0 only on senkos or soft jerk baits where I want more hook exposure.
