Hey, that's not a bass....

Went to a local pond this morning and was tossing cranks against the vegetation. Had a bite that exploded on the other end. Actually surprised me how aggressive the bite was.
Surprised me more once I had it to the shore. I have fished this pond for a while and only seen bass and bluegill.

I caught one early last year, maybe I can post it later if you don't mind? Caught it on a 1/4 Oz. Thunderstruck Jig...

Sounds like a plan. Grilling it up butterflied with some lemon, a pinch of garlic salt and a shot of rum. I squeezed the lemon this morning and added the garlic salt and rum. Poured that into the fish and it is sitting for a couple of more hours.

I might have to cook this one a little longer since it is a little bigger than most of the ones I catch.

mmmmmmmmm trout over an open flame with blackening spices, cajun blackening spices. with some red taters and green beans and garlic bread, MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

That sure is a nice catch, Congrats!

Every once in awhile I'll catch a surprise Crappie with a crankbait. Its been years since I've caught a trout though.

Wow! Do you think it might be a hold over? That's the term we use in my neck of the woods for planted trout that manage to live and avoid capture since they were stocked.

The pond I got it out of hasn't had a stock, so it is hard to say how it ended up there. I am guessing someone caught one it from one of the stocked lakes and transplanted it.

Thats a hell of a trout. One of the most beautiful gamefishes in existence. I like Brown trout even more though.

Buzz, I have a lemon tree in my yard down here. Cant beat the lemons. If you have a green house you can put them in a big pot.
