Angry Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!

THIS DROP-SHOT THANG IS OFFICIALLY PISSING ME OFF!

I cannot for the life of me get the hook to stand as it's supposed to! I've used finesse hooks - nothing. Use some normal, Gammy EWG 1/0 hooks - works - sometimes....

Should I resort to a Stand-Out hook? What can I do to get this right!?!?!

I don't know if you are right handed or left handed, but give this a try.

1. Take the hook in between your thumb and forefinger with the eye and point towards the other hand (round bend away from the other hand).
2. Have the line in the other hand and insert it through the eye and back through the eye (loop on the same side as the round bend, away from point side, tag end on same side as point).
3. Take the loop with the hand you held the hook with and the tag and main line in the other hand, then tie a simple granny knot.
4. The loop will be on the point side now. Holding the tag and main line with one hand and push the loop back over the hook from the point side to the bend side, and moisten and complete your palomar.
5. Take you tag end and insert it through the eye from the point side, and pull until you literally pull your palomar knot completely through the eye.
6. The finished product will have the hook point up and the hook standing straight out from the line.

Lunk-when you have it out of the water the hook does NOT stand straight out-it hangs verticle. It doesn't hang horizontally until it is in the water rigged, and then it still does not hang horizontally. I'm sure you are rigging it right. The reason it looks like it sits horizintally in the diagrams you see is so you rig it correctly-pointing up.

Lunk read the instructions on the stand out hooks when you buy them. I did not at first and had a heck of a time until I glanced at the instructions of not tying off on the eyelet. C-Bird.

BTW , the dropshot was the most difficult presentation for me to learn.I am still not good at it but I can catch smallmouths with it when I can find them. lmao....C-Bird

Dont be a quitter and use the stand out hooks. I dont like em at all. Use cricle hooks from gammy. when you tie the knot, run the tage end back thru the eyelet of the hook then attach the weight. It should help keep it where it belongs. After time youll get it to work just by tying the knot. Dropshot is my favorite rig to throw

ll just walk away for awhile. then after you have calmed down a bit go back and slowly go through it again. get frustrated, walk away again. you'll get it. i haven't even tried it yet. i have to be all alone and ready before i attempt that setup.

I'm just glad to hear that I'm not the only one who had a tough time with it.

Since it was supposed to be so great on deep clear lakes in California, I thought it would work well on Lake Michigan. I used it maybe a dozen times there, never caught a fish.

I now know how to tie it, but don't use it.

GOT IT!!!

Instead of using a barrel swivel to connect the two lines, (P.P. and Mono), I just used the U2U knot. Will this present twist?

Anyway, I tied the two lines together about 7' above the hook. Then I tied on my hook and left about a 4' leader. I will cut this depending on what the fish want.

Thanks for the tips, guys!
