Default Favorite Bass Jigs

I just have 2 Chompers jigs in my tackle box. One is 1/2 oz, the other is 1/4oz. What is your favorite bass jig? Who sells a bass jig over 1oz, I see it on TV, but not in the Cabelas, BPS catalogs, where do u find a large bass jig? What is your favorite Jig trailer? According to some fishing shows this is the most popular bass bait........

This is a new company with some great looking jigs, and they come in sizes up to 1 1/4 oz. www.blackangeljigs.com
I don't have any yet, but I have some on their way.

I like any jig that has a good skirt and a Mustad Ultra Point Hook. My favorite colors are black/blue and green pumpkin. Match the trailer colors to the skirt colors.

I love using different stuff as trailer, from chunks to craws, to frogs and lizards to brush hogs and even curly tail grub and worms. I have only bought a few cheap BPS jigs but plan on buying some better ones like BOOYAH ones.

there are a lot of good jigs out there. the three main jigs i use are chompers, jewel football heads, and eakins flippin jigs. although i really like the looks of the blackangel jigs and i will be making an order one of these days. trailer options can be as broad as color options. i really like baby brush hogs and twin tailed grubs. don't be affraid to use salt craws either. once the water dips down into the low 50's or cooler i use porkfrogs a lot too. there are so many modifications you can do to a jig it's exhausting to even think about all of them. one thing i do is trim the weedguard, i don't care what jig i am using it never gets wet without me cutting the weedguard down. the next guy will say that he doesn't like it but it's a personal preference. the bottom line is if you use it enough you will gain confidence in it, i think that so many people just give up on a jig to soon.

I've used a coulpe without trimmed weedguards and a coulpe with em, still haven't caught anything, so i can't really say which i like better.

Strikeworks Finesse Jigs. One of the few that come with a rattle. PnJ turned me on to Grassmaster jigs from All Terrain Tackle that are good-you can get the 1+ oz. jigs from them. I also like Cyclone thunder Rattle Jigs and make up a few from components I order from Stamina Inc.

Wow, I thought I knew which jigs I wanted when I go to Cabelas but I'm gonna have to go and look around more now.

I like Buckeye Lures Mop Jigs. They have a pretty big profile, but not too full if you know what I mean.

[quote=StetsD;164279] I see it on TV, but not in the Cabelas, BPS catalogs, where do u find a large bass jig? [quote]

A lot of the pros make the jigs they use. Unless the show is featuring (infomerical) a brand of lure, you can assume one of two things. The lure is homemade or the lure is made by another company that is not their sponsor. A million and one jigs on the market. Experiment with them and see what happens. Interesting article on Bassmaster.com this morning about a jig and the modifications that can be made to it. The suggestion in the article might be worth a try. I think I will.

As he did me. I also caught my Personal Best 12lber with it, in 1oz, in the heavy stuff, that the raccoons can walk on as PNJ likes to say.

The JigX from Vertical Lures http://www.verticallures.com are some great jigs. The tie loop is behind the head, so the knot stays protected and less hang ups in the grass.

Default Stanley Jigs

Stanley jigs have been making jigs for over 15 years. They know their stuff and designs!! Only way to go in my opinion.
