Most productive times for places..
So, I have figured out places I can catch fish pretty consistantly. But I wondered when would be the most productive times to fish these places. I just wanted to know you all's thoughts.
1. Riprap - for me , its a morning place 2. Shallow Grass - Morning to noon 3. Points - High sun. 4. Laydowns/Stumps - High sun 5. Docks - High sun |

Really I probably kinda agree with what you've said here. But I would rather refer to dark, low light, partly sunny, and sunny. It can be the middle of the day and still you can have low light conditions. Which leads me to wonder if there is a feeding frenzy that take place durring a luner eclips?

I also think you may have to qualify stumps a little more as to whether they are shallow, deep or mid-range, on sandy bottom, marl or mucky, undulating bottom....etc.etc. Overall, you are doing very well in your information gathering. Thanks for posting.
In addition to keithdog's lighting conditions, I spotted fish at twelve feet in a local lake and assumed they were relating to the foot high stumps on bottom until I realized the fish finder was also indicating shallow weeds there also......later on as I left the weedy area I still had the foot high stumps but no weeds and no fish on a harder bottom. |

This what works in my area at these smaller lakes and ponds.
In addition to what was mentioned above, I tend to go more off the previous weather and moon rather than current conditions. Unless it is a long term change like 3 days straight of rain, the local fish tend to stay in spots for short terms changes like clouds or short rain storms. They know as well as I do that weather can change good to bad to good very quickly here. If a low pressure front moves through, with or without bad weather, that can shut it down for 2-3 days easily. After that they go back to the usual spots. With high pressure close by, they tend to get much more easily spooked so you need more stealth and more reaction lures than any specific type of bait for the time of day. Usually best time is 3 days after the front moves through but before the high pressure gets there. Better fishing usually comes along between half to full moon, so if these 2 come at the same time, you can walk away with limits many times. |
