My suggestion is:

Maybe a bit more money than you'd like to spend, but well worth it.

I've been using the BPS Extreme for several years and for the price they are tough to beat. Plus, BPS stands behind their stuff. I had an older model Extreme that was grinding instead of cranking. Flyrod and I hit BPS the other day and he reminded me to bring the reel. Showed it to customer service and long story short I left with a free replacement.

The BPS Extreme is a good reel for the money.

I agree with this. I have a Cruxis, same but with one less bearing I think and I like it a lot. I have heard people say the Citica is similar to the good older Curados.

Currently Bass Pro shops has the rod/reel combo(the Extreme) on sale for $119 total. I don't own any, but if Rebasser has good things to say about them, then that's enough for me. How do I know? Well once again I stopped by the BPS in Savannah on the way home from SC to get just a couple of things, and dropped $120 on just hooks and baits rotfl.
