jointed shad rap
if you have used them before most of you know they move great through the water with a lot of action. but they tend to dive a tad deep about 7 feet-for me-and ya know that and original jointed rapala don't move right in shallow water. i accidently created a cure for this problem.actually i nailed a bridge butment with one and it broke the lip in front of the line tie eye. from then on i have used this lure in shallow weedy areas as it only dives 18-24". recently i cut a lip on one with a hack saw-because i can-then after a day of testing -caught a dink-i made it in to a coffin lip with a grinder. while it still moves great it will only dig 12-18"down.
i belive that this modication will greatly help during the high fishing pressure times on the local lakes. where throwing it in/and or around shallow cover and grass. where 90 percent of shad raps will not work well. besides rapala don't make a shallow diving jointed lure. but till they do i guess i will have to take a hack saw to a perfectly good -read that new-jointed shad rap. zooker
