A day on the Atlantic
Me and some friends got together on Friday to do some Spade fishing for my buddies upcoming nuptuals. We left his house at around 4:15 am and headed to Virginia Beach, two and a half hours away. We left the harbour at 7:20 and headed to an old tugboat wreck about 20 miles out. The day started off pretty slow, three Spadefish in the first 30 minutes. Then we decided to drop anchor an the north side of the wreck and started catching fish cast after cast. We limited out within the next hour. These fish are without a doubt one of the toughest fighting fish i have ever caught. The fish we caught were anywhere between 2-7 pounds. We were using 25 lb test they were still breaking the line. Since we had only been fishing for an hour and a half, Capt. Joe decided to take us to another spot about 12 miles away to see if we couldn't catch some cobia. Well, the tide was ripping too hard for cobia, but we did catch about 20 Duskie sharks, 1 Hammerhead, and about a dozen sting rays with one being a monster. I caught one keeper Duskie(54") but he bit the hook line and the Capt. dropped him off the side of the boat. But all in all we had a great day on the water.
