Default Catfish in my pond.

Catfish in my pond. Me and my older sister's boyfriend were catfishing in our little 1/2 acre pond. Since it's almost impossible to not catch one of these apetites with a head, we decided to make it fun. I had a 5' or 5'6" ultralite with 6lb test, and he used one of my dad's older Boron rods with 8lb test. We both had 3/0 Kahle hooks tied on with the barbs bent down. Those dozen or so catfish in my pont have had enough damage from getting hooks out.

Well, we started off putting a whole worm on the hook, and you guessed it. Those little freaking baitstealing bluegills picked the hooks clean. Then I actually caught one on that big hook. we had an idea... Cutbait! So I dropppe the fish in the water and ran up to the house to get my fillet knife. When I got back the little baitstealer had ocme off the hook because of its barblessness. So I ran up to the house agian and grabbed my little cousin's fishing rod which had a little panfish hook and a bobber on it. Caught a fish almost immediately. I just cut the fish into four pieces and we hooked it though the meat.

A few minuted later, my sister's boyfirend gets one. He turns the drag down to make it more fun. He got it in but we didn't measure it. It was the smallest of the three we ended up getting. I'd say around 22".

After that I get a bite and try to set the hook. My 6lb fluoroclear breaks (I blame the crappy guides on the old Eagle Claw UL) Anyways, he hooks another that goes 25" and the last (also caught by him) was a bit over 23.5" While he was catching all these fish, I got another bluegill for bait and broke off on another cat, and got my line wrapped around his while he was fishing a fish, and it snapped.

I'm planning on removing the guides from that rod, cleaning the blank, and wrappin gon some new, better guides.

I'll see if I can get one, but I have to find the camera first.
