Custom lure painting
I have read a few posts on custom lure painting. Have a few questions.
Just how expensive is it to get done. I am really thinking about getting some crankbaits done. I like everyone else have too many crankbaits i never use or have lost confidence in. Don't know what color scheme i would want (shad patterns most likely) and would probably leave that up to the person doing the work. |

There are many...
Google it and you'll find many custom bait painters. I paint baits, you can find me on facebook (Fishnart Custom Baits and Taxidermy), I don't have a website yet. I can send you some pic's if you'd like. The price range varies but I would say the average is around $15. Be sure and shop around, if you need any help let me know. I'm not a big salesman, so not trying to sell myself but I'm here if you need any help. If you have any other questions feel free to send me an email at fishnart24@yahoo.com. I hope this helps.

Feel free to post your work, definitely of they are all masterpieces like that.
Back to the original question, it will be a tad pricey, and depending on who you ask it log really be worth it. Sometimes that somethig different or more realistic will be killer.

Wow! That's amazing! How do you do the layering with an airbrush? Do you have a stencil that you make? Do you tape it off? Do you just freehand? Those are some amazing baits. You should send in some of your designs to tackle companies. They are truely better than most off the shelf crainkbaits, including the live target brand.

Hey everyone
Sorry its taken my a few days, I was on the water donating money to the winner of our tourn this weekend. I sucked bad, everyone around me was catching fish except me...
Now first of all, thanks to each of you for your compliments! I really appreciate it. Iowabasser, you get me some good pics and I'll paint them Coldbasser right now I charge $13 for a realistic pattern plus what the blank cost me. If you send me one, its just the $13. Thats a pretty good deal considering I put hours into one. bassfishkansas I use many different techniqes and mediums such as airbrush, paintbrush, colored pencils, charcol and I even paint with my finger haha. Thanks for the compliment. I plan to get out there more eventually but right now I don't have the time to mass produce. Its all I can do to keep up with the orders I take in. I do this part time as well as fish, my regular job and being a house husband. Thanks for the confidence. |

Wow fishnart those are super realistic! $13 is very reasonable for that kind of work. I have had a few done by the crankin cracker he does great work, he's a little less expensive (10$) , but yours are scarry realistic.
Some baits are great right out of the box, but having them custom painted has been some of the best money I have spent. Makes a great bait better. I have some f18 rapalas I'd like to get done in baby bass and a golden shiner. Their 7" baits. Do you do those?
