1 braid is the most sensative line made.
2 braid is thin for it's lb. test.
3 braid has no memory and casts great.
4 braid lasts forever.
5 braid cuts through weeds.

1 braid tip wraps a lot.
2 there is only one good braid (powerpro)
3 braid makes a lot of noise
4 no stretch is sometimes bad as you can tear lures out easy
5 the jury is still out on guide wear.just listen to it as you reel it in and it sounds like it's cutting into your guides.to me it's like chalk on a blackboard.i do think due to braids lack of stretch that many more rods are broken with it.i've also seen more rod tip inserts pop out with braid.

1 mono is easier to tie knots with than braid.
2 mono is less visible than braid.
3 cajun red cast is almost as limp as braid and almost as stealthy as flouro.abrasion resistance is excellent!!!
4 mono is more abrasion resistant than braid in rocks.
5 stretch can be a good thing with cranks .it also prevents you from tearing lures out to a certain degree.
6 mono is far friendlier to rods and guides than braid could ever be.
7 mono is available in more colors and florescent for line watching.
8 mono is quiet!!!

1 mono doesn't cut through weeds as good as braid.
2 mono is far less sensative than braid.
3 you have to retie more often with mono.
4 mono is sensative to uv rays
5 mono needs to be stored in the dark at room temp to stay good and fresh.

1 flouro is close to invisible
2 flouro has less strech than mono but still has a lot.

1 flouro casts terrible.
2 flouro has knot issues
3 a lot of guys say flouro is brittle and i agree

all things considered i would choose a good mono.

I like Power Pro cause...........
  1. It has no strech..........
  2. Its realy sensitive........
  3. Its unbeleivably strong.........
  4. It cast realy good..........
  5. It has no memory...........
I like Mono cause............
  1. Its clear and is hard for the fish to see...........
  2. It is quiet through the rod eyes......................
  3. There are so manty kinds that will perform a specific action you want.....
  4. The good kind rarely breaks...............
  5. and its good for school projects...........
I dislike Power Pro cause..........
  1. It is loud going through the rod eyes..........
  2. It tends to be seen easier in clear water.....
  3. It hard to cut to change lures................ Unless you havea good knife..
  4. I dont know any more.............
I dislike mono cause................
  1. It breaks............
  2. It knicks............
  3. It has memory.......
  4. It streches.............
  5. It has to be changed out once a year.........

Well then you need to try them both out and decide what you like the best. Everyone has their own preference. Dogeguy gave gazillions of reasons, but what do you think is better for your fishing techniques. If you use circle hooks, then mono would be better perhaps. See what I mean, depends on what you like, and how you are fishing.

I change my line once a month when tournament fishing. (1 tx a month) I mostly use Stren Flourocarbon. I think the best mono is Berkley Sensation and if I use a braid... I use Berkley Fireline. I think Berkley Vanish is terrible and the new Transition is just as bad. That stuff will break in a heart beat. Another line I like and use when the water is real stained is Berkley Iron Silk. If that stuff was clear that's probably all I would use.

Exclamation The possibilities

To me, the best answer would seem to be that each line definitely has its advantages. Use those advantages where they are suited to make you more effective. Example- When fishing heavy weeds, use braided, when fishing rocky or areas with stumps and such, use mono. Don't force one line to be the "best in all areas", when each clearly has advantages in different terrain.
