Default Lost our pack leader today....

our oldest dog and pack leader for most of its 14 years died today, heart failure. We had been treating her for celuitus after thinking one of our other dogs bite her, but the vet couldn't find any puncture wounds. We nursed her about 5 days on meds but today she went downhill fast.
Favorite memory on this dog was throwing a 4x4 piece of hedge wood in the air and her catching it, for many years, every day. She broke off most of her teeth over the years catching hedge logs like that. The last 5-7 years she pretty much kept the other collies and labs in line, kinda grouchy but a nice dog..she got parvo when we first got her 13 years ago and we got her through that, with about 56 injections.
Heres a pic of Chelsie

Sorry to hear that, JB. Like losing a member of the family. Actually, you ARE losing a member of the family. My dog is getting old and I am NOT looking forward to the inevitable.

Sorry jb, I know the feeling. Lost our Chihuahua after 15 yrs of companionship. Unlike you, we’ve never owned but one house dog at one time. It was so hard loosing Pokey, I Said I would never get another, but lil red gets another just like him, same color, same weight. You guessed it, same name. She is now 13 and getting a little senile. We know it won’t be too long until we will have put her to sleep, not looking forward to it. Have a nice day, carpy

Its a lot quieter thats for sure, esp. during their dinner time, she kept them all at bay with growls, to stay away from her bowl....The rest of the pack is high strung today due to the weather change coming.
