Yellow stain

I have a 1995 Javelin 350A with a white 48hp Johnson.When I bought the boat it already had a yellowish stain on the motor and now it is even worse. I plan on putting the boat up for sale to buy me a skeeter and I would like the boat to look nice so I can hopefully get more $ for my trade-in.So the question is, does anyone have any advice on what would help take this yellow stain off.I have already tried using alot of elbow grease but with little success.....thanks weidner21

Its from the heat isnt it? Most white will do that with heat. I dont think its a stain as much as its the actual paint changing color.

dont think its from the heat cause the stain starts right at the water line....i fish stained water 4 times a week and alot of its my fault from not cleaning it off after i take it out of the water....anyone else with some ideals?

Thats exactly what it is than, stained from the water. You should always take your boat to a car wash, or wash it at home each and every time tyou take it out [not a soap and water wash, but more so just a rinse off with fresh water]. Also, its odd that the water would stain the motor from just running it, i'd guess that it was either kept in water at a dock, or that when you stop to fish you kept the motor in the water. Trim it up and out of the water everytime you stop and fish for future reference. But as far as getting that stain off... not too sure, try power spraying it.

Did some messing around with some cleaners today and found something that works like magic.I found a bottle of CLR in the bottom of the bathroom sink cabnet. Decieded i would give it a try because it works well on the shower. I put some on a SOS pad and started scrubbing and this stuff worked like magic.The motor went from looking like crap to looking like brand new.Just thought I would let you guys know what worked the best.......weidner21

clr will work so will my personal favorite ezzy clean..i don't use an sos pad as the surface is painted like your car and this will scratch it..i use a wet terry cloth towel..

those will work but this is the crap stain on the outboard shaft. anything you run thru will leave a mark there -i hate pollen- this is a typical problem when fishing nasty water..

WEIDNER,
I usually use an automotive pre-wax cleaner like Turtle Wax "Color Back" to take the stains and water scum off my lower unit, then apply a good coat of automove wax, like Maguires Gold to help keep the crud from building up.
You could also try Westleys "Bleach White" tire cleaner, it will usually take anything off.
If you are at the car wash, spray the lower unit with whitewall cleaner and let it set while you wash the rest of the boat, then wash the tire cleaner off with the setting on wax cycle.

Works there too. Took off the Cypress tannin water on our 2. Also takes off a couple weeks old dried tuna/dolphin blood.

I never clean my boat so I don't know what does or doesn't work.I know a mixture of bleach and water gets rid of the carpet greens for a while.

If its a stain I have found NOTHING to beat soft scrub brand liquid "Bleach" cleaner...

be warned to wear some old clothes and dont apply it in the sun. Use a cloth or maybe a small brush with it, nothing harsher.

I suspect it's less a matter of poor aim and more a case of reduced velocity, ergo range, resulting in what we old soldiers call "short rounds". Excessive practice firings will wear out the rifling, y'see?

Yeah, just make sure said partner doesnt put that bottle of gatorade...err urine... back into the cooler. Hot conditions and a drastic thirst can cause someone to reach into the cooler, pull out whatever they grab first, and begin to drink without giving the substance inside much thought/look.

The first year our aim was pretty off but with yrs of pratice we have gotten much better and only the splash from hitting the water hits the motor.

Bassfisher02, yes I admit that I use the empty Gatorade containers for "excess water". What can I say, I believe in recycling certain items that would otherwise be considered trash.
