Default Truck

I'm looking to buy a truck next year and want some recommendations. I really think I'm going to go with a Toyota but would be willing to look else where if some one could give a good reason why I should.

not so much a work truck but a truck to throw my 10' outboard in, haul crap to the dumps, move stuff in. It will need to be a 4X4 crew cab, cuz I hate to put on chains and I have a family.

It Has Nothing To Do With What You Want To Spend. Ill Tell You What I Was Always A Chevy Guy I Mean Diehard Chevy. But I Started Working In The Car Business And I Drove A Nissan Titan, My Favorite Truck Period. I Have Driven Every Other Truck Out There And To Me Nothing Compares To One. I Am Now The Used Car Assistant Manager At Hamiton Nissan. Im Not Just Saying That Cause I Work There Either. Its Becuase Of The Product. Just Drive One Youll See What I Mean. And To Tell You The Truth Toyota Is My Least Favorite. I Just Hate The Seats In Them And Cant Get Comforatble Along With A Few Other Things. If You Have Any Questions Just Ask Ill Be More Than Willing To Help.

I've owned Chevy's for my last 5 vehicles. They make a good product, but if you are buying new, I would reccomend something with a better warranty than a Chevy. Amazing that lot's of the foreign cars are giving 50-100k mile warranties, and you have to pay for the extended warranty on the Chevy's. Just my Opinion, but I really like the Nissan Titan also.

I don't have a truck now but I am thinking about selling off some of my other cars and getting one. My buddy has a 2004 Dodge with the Hemi, he doesn't tow with it and it just drinks gas like you wouldn't believe. His wife (to be in a week) has a 2004 F-150 and they use it to tow their 26' 7500lbs. boat and it does great, I like it better than the Dodge, not that I drive either very often. At work we have an 87 GMC 1500. What a truck, it has had the crap beaten out of it as a work truck with much more than a ton in the bed (leaf springs bent backwards), driven recklessly by idiot employees, and has 232,000+ miles on it. I also use it to tow my light 16' boat.
I am thinking of a few year old Chevy or GMC for me, mainly to tow the boat and as a winter vehicle.
Edit: I just wish more trucks were available with diesel engines. I love my little diesel car and 45 MPG is great too.

Yeah The Hemi Uses So Much Gas Its Unbelieveable And Overrated Decent Truck Though. Chevy Makes A Good Truck. Ford Is Good Too If You Dont Mind Huge Shop Bills. Its All In What You Like And Have Faith In Its Just Like Fishing Reels Diawa, Shimano, Quantum Etc. You All Know What That Arguement Can Turn Into Here Lol.

Is Nissan going to move into the hybrid market? I'm kind of holding out for that. I like the fact that the hybrids are getting more HP with a 20% savings on the MPG (see the Toyota highlander).

10 years ago I would have said Chevy but American/Mexican cars and trucks don't do it for me. I think Chevy cut their warranty from 5 to 3 years due to how much it was costing them. Scares the crap out of me.

I really like the looks of the Mitsubishi Raider and after researching I found out it is a dodge Dakota. I wonder who will will end up with the better pricing and if it will be any good. I've never been impressed with the power of the Dakota

Yeah Chevy Cut The Warranty Cause The Vehichles Are Always Breaking And They Are Loosing Too Much Money. Nissan Is Getting Into The Hybrid Market They Are A Little Behind Schedule But They Are Making From What Ive Read The Nicest Hybrid Motors. And The Raider Is Just A Dakota Not A Whole Lot To Be Said Bout That. Lol Good Luck.

How about the Fronteer I like the look of them kind of sporty, my only sticking point is that Nissans have a rep for going downhill at about 100000 mi

are you kidding i had a nissan that had 278k that was still tighter than a drum. we trade them in here all the time with 200k. the frontier is a really nice midsize truck. i like them a lot. one truck that i havent driven yet is the ridgeline. i cant tell you about it yet. its seems like a decent truck though. good luck. and lovinfishin i see that those two are different trucks but your not listening dodge and mitsu are the same company make the same cars in the same factorys shipped out on the same trucks. just differnt body styles. so the raider and the dakota are the same truck. just look different.
