Naaa, I'm not talkin about the toothpic stuck between your insisors.

I'm talking about the point of the toothpic that is left behind stuck inside your bullet weight once you have taken the weight off your line. This prevents you from reusing the bullet weight untill you get that dang little piece of toothpick out of the hole. Just curious to see what neat little tricks you guys have come up with to rid those weights of toothpick clutter.

You can put it aside and let the wooden pick dry out, thus shrinking it a little...then poke it out with a thin wire or the shaft of a broken hook.

Try a pair of pliers. I wouldn't use toothpicks for pegging weights.

Keep a small finish nail handy that is just smaller than the hole in the weight. The nail is strong enough to force the toothpick or rubber stops outfrom the opposite end.

I pegged em for years and never had a problem wit the pic. Somebody came out with the screwbullet wt, and now that's all I use w/my Tex worm rigs.

If I really have to, I've used the point of a hook to pick out bullet weights. Gotta be careful though, while its not known for being sharp, lead can be made sharp enough to cut and knick line.

If money is on the line, I would probably just use new weights, or tungsten - you arent gonna burr up tungsten.

I use a .035 diameter stainless steel leader material to poke the broken toothpick out..I use the peg it system if my line diameter will allow it, but I use a #31 rubber band, half hitch it off on you line and cinch the rubberband down to your sinker nose to keep it in place.you can trim the excess rubber band off if you like .I get alot of rubber bands for a few dollars and it works for me.

I have some of those T Stops Reb was showing, but they won't slide through the hole in my sinkers. The hole is too small. I'm going to get some tungsten weight, so maybe they will have a larger hold. I have a few of the screw spring type sinkers like you showed me Bob, but I havn't really liked them. I've had several springs come off when inserting them into my plastics, plus the plastic bait never seems to hand as straight with those.

Order some of the Lake Fork Tackle Screw lock weights and try them. Mark Pack uses only quality materials in the construction of those weights including teflon inserts to protect your line.

Weaverm134, I have them and use them for fishing live bait with a slip bobber.I never thought of using them to hold a sinker in place.

Keithdog, I had a difficult time with the peg it fitting , there is one that is real thin compared to the other peg it weight system.I bought the wrong size as I suspect you have as well.

The peg it II is what you wanted , they are real thin on the pointed end which fits a whole lot better.

The problem is, that doesn't work. After sliding the weight off, the toothpick stays in there, so he's finding out what these guys do to get it out.
