someone i know from another forum just caught this on his trip to costa rica





the tackle:

Fishing method: casting from shore
Line: 12 lbs mono nylon
Rod: Shimano
Reel: Abu Garcia 5500
Lure: Rapala DT10 color RCW (Red Crawdad)
Treble Hooks: VMC Sureset
Fight time: 20 minutes
Place Caño Negro, North Costa Rica

only 20 mins for that beast?? took me 20-25 mins to bring in a 10-15 lb. muskie last july on 10 lb. test, those fish must wear fast

each one is different. I have fought them for 1 1/2 hours and some 30 minutes same size fish

That is the biggest fish I have seen caught on a crankbait! What pound test was that guy using? Are you sure it wasn't 200 minutes from land. What pound test was that guy using if it was 20 minutes? I caught a 90 pounder on fly that fought for 3 hours. I put tons of pressure on it, down pulling away from the fish. I know that there are few fish like that at that size, but still, is fish seemed to be a similar size. What did it weigh? 70-80 pounds?

12 pound mono nylon. He didnt take girth or lenth, so all there is is an estimate. 80-100?

yea saw the fish in person a few days after he caught it on ice... Can you believe it? redfishing off a pier with 40 pound test.. unbelievable.

it was the new texas state record, and one that big is legal to kill in texas.
