Have you ever lied about...
Saw a post response in another post that I thought would make a fun conversation here. The question for you to answer is this. Have you ever lied about a fishing trip or anything related to a fishing trip, and if so, were you caught?
I'll start. When I was a senior in high school I was faced with a dilemma. It was a beautiful warm early spring day and the lake had just thawed out a few day ago. I wanted to go fishing badly but it was a school day, so what to do? Well, I called in sick and skipped school and headed out to the lake. Back in those days, that was a BIG no no. Anyways, I had to be back home by 3:00 in the afternoon to get ready to go to my after school job, so at 2:00 I headed back to my car. My mouth dropped and my heart skipped a beat when I realized my keys were lock in my car! So I called from the phone booth at the lake park and called my dad who just happened to be home. His first question was of course, "why are you out at the lake"??? I chose to tell the truth, and that must have helped. Especially since my dad also loved fishing and had his share of misdeeds as a boy himself. LOL He came and unlocked my car and nothing much was said other than did you catch anything?

My senior year of highschool my first class was a teachers aid. We had hour and half long classes so my next class didn't start until 9:30 and I was an aid in Chemistry class so there wasn't really anything for me to do, couldn't even grade papers or anything. So I started going fishing in the mornings and then showing up for class in time for my second class. My teacher didn't care but the problem was when my dad drove by the school to get something out of my truck and it wasn't there! My friends were still in the parking lot before school and told my dad they didn't know where I was. Apparently my dad had an idea where I may be because he drove straight to the lake. Luckily my teacher had an aquarium in his class that I was in charge of taking care of and stocking. So I told him that a couple of the fish had died and I was trying to catch more. My dad must have figured that was a good enough excuse and didn't call the school like I was afraid he might. I think I went to school in the mornings maybe a half dozen times and still got an A in that class

Skipped school once to go snatching mullet in the Hillsborough River. Got one of the strangest fish I'd ever seen. Walked down to the local marina to find out what this thing was. next thing I know, Salty Sol Fleischman from channel 13 is there interviewing me about the sturgeon that I had. Everything would have been fine if the dean at school had watched the channel 8 news that night. My 15 minutes of fame cost me a very sore butt the next day.
