I have 7 rods, 5 baitcasters and 2 spinning. In the process of adding another baitcaster.
7'6" heavy power rod with braid for frogging and pitching slop. 7' medium heavy with braid that will be for jigging and t-rigging. Two are 6'6" MH, one for spinnerbaits and such, the other for deep cranks. 6'6" M for shallow cranks and topwater. 6' MH I'll use for walking topwaters like Spooks, also for short-range spinnerbaits. Spinning setups for shaky heads, wacky Senkos, whatever other light lures I want to use.

11 Baitcasting combos.
6 Spinning reel combos 7 spincast combos 6 Flyrod set-ups. This count does not include all the set-ups I bought for my kids which are in storage. The spincast combos come in handy for loaning because they are pretty much idiot-proof. I like them for catfishing too. |

I have about 10 total. Carry about 5 fishing usually. Three baitcasters and two ultralite openface spinning outfits. The three baitcasters with different lures that change before I go onto the water each time to be ready for current conditions and using 40 years of experience ( which sometimes works sometimes not) what I think will work on that day.
I also like to catch Crappie, bluegill on ultralite. Carry two. one for a backup. Good luck and God bless. |

Many of the tournament guys have multiple identical rigs to avoid a lot of retying to change baits. You can get by with three rods for bass fishing:
7' MH/F casting for jigs/plastics and spinnerbaits 1/2oz> 7' MH/Mod for cranks and other trebel hook lures 7' M/F spinning for jigs/plastics <1/2 oz If you want to get into technique specific rods, you might add: 6'8" ML/XF spinning Drop Shot/ weightless plastics, finesse 7'6" Hvy/F casting flipping, pitching, frogs 6'6" M/F skipping, top water You could sub-divide these categories and add a few more even.

Not 20, but plenty, at least that is what my wife says. I have 10 useable at this time. I have 4 blanks I need to finish and I will bump it up from there.
