Default Reel Seat Issue

So a few weeks ago i had my lighting rod out on the pond. My worm got hit by a 1/2 lber and when i set the hook..my reel came flying off the seat
I managed to get it back on and reel the fish in... apparently the screw lock (or whatever you call it) keeps popping loose....I tighten it,and then one more turn makes it pop loose again...I'm not gorilla fisting it or anything..but anytime I set a hook, it pops loose and the reel becomes loose or flies off..
Upon inspection, nothing seems damaged, thread wise... infact it screws on straight till it hits the reel's foot...then gets a little crooked.
I tried teflon tape thinking the threads arent deep enough ,but after 6 wraps.. I still have the same problem.

Now I'm considering using zip-ties across the feet... the rod is in impeccable condition except for that.
But I wanted to see if anyone has any other ideas,or solutions?

Waffle, is this rod perchance the one you heard a "crack" from a while back?

Ahhh,precisely the one.
I thought about that too,I wonder if that maybe ''deformed'' the lock screw in anyway?..I'll have too look at it under a better light...But why now,and not on alot of bigger fish beforehand,I wonder...That crack was awhile back, and I never had a problem since, until recently.

Oh,I feel better by the way,Thanks
Nothing Whataburger cant solve!

If you ever heard a crack it means exactly that, the reel seat was cracked and no longer it can hold the reel in place, because it didnīt happen before doesnīt mean it wasnīt damaged it only meant that the damage didnīt cause problems until recently where as usual, with time and use the damage has reached the point where itīs causing problems, something similar to metal fatigue, doesnīt cause problems until it causes them.

Replacing the reel seat is going to be some serious business and itīs not only going to cost ( removing the reel seat from the blank is not an easy task ) but also itīs going to take time.

I would rather purchase another rod or if were a GLoomis or a StCroix I would send it to the manufacturer, pay 50 bones and get a new rod.

Well great!!...Guess I cant get to bent out of shape over a $30 dollar combo (thank you Dick's 20% sale) ...

I might have to go pick up a Mojo rod after all.
Thanks Raul for the input, that makes sense.

Just don't repeat what caused the reel seat to crack, normally you don't have to tighten too much for the reel seat to hold firmly the reel foot.

Just put it on and wrap it up good with electrical tape like the old "Tennessee" handles.

My memory is no where near what it used to be, but if I remember correctly, it wasn't tightening the reel seat that caused it to crack.

Yea, I never adjusted it when I got it,so it was factory tight..It came from setting the hook on a submerged log...A tiny crack was heard...I never tighten the reel seat that tight.
I think Im going to lock it down and then zip-tie it..Walmart style
Then buy a new rod and reel for my troubles
